...the electors... will meet on the Monday after the second Wednesday in December. That is when the actual re-election of the president occurs.
According to the 12th Amendment, for the Electoral College to be able to select the president, it must have a quorum of two-thirds of the states voting. If enough states refuse to participate, the Electoral College will not have a quorum... then the responsibility for selecting the president and vice president devolves to the Congress.
The House of Representatives selects the president and the Senate selects the vice president. Since the Republicans hold a majority in the House, presumably they would vote for Mitt Romney...

You are so right.
Guess many supposedly on our side never learn, just like the GOP good old boys.
There is always another election, another pres candidate, another hope .....so they think;
Never mind fighting voter fraud, they say;
Never mind fighting to remove the constitutionally ineligible usurper. It can not be done, they say;
Next time, next time, next time, next time.....
When are they going to realize that their passive attitude (letting the left get away with stealing election, allowing a usurper into the oval office without a fight, believing that next election they will miraculously win over the left’s voter fraud......) will guarantee their own defeat every time!?
You who won’t support the anti-usurper movement, the anti-fraud movement, you have no right to condemn the congress critters, because your own actions are telling them not to do a thing about voter fraud, or about the usurpation of the presidency!!!
Them either.
You are so right. Well said
Art, can you find out if this is feasible?
You know, that isn’t Romney’s facebook page, it is a community page for Romney supporters, and somebody tagged Romney’s page with a blogger’s post. So don’t think Romney is falling for this insanity
One thing we need to do as conservatives is to repopulate the field. We need to become teachers, we need to become journalists. We need to get government civil service jobs.
We need to get our voices into the positions of power and positions of training and positions of reporting.
I rejected liberalism because it won’t work. It will leave people worse off, it will leave our country worse off.
In the end, even poor people don’t want to be worse off. So I do believe that, in the end, we can convince people to vote for better policies that help people be better off.
On the other hand, if we really have gotten to where half the people would rather just steal what they need, then there is no hope. Democracy cannot recover from a lawless majority. You need a revolution, which requires superior force.
We needed that to start our country, because we could not get a majority of the british to appreciate our plight, or see the advantages of supporting us.
The founding fathers were pretty smart, and theoretically our constitution would have prevented the federal government from getting strong enough where it mattered whether a majority could be swayed to take from the minority, because the power wasn’t there.
But the courts have destroyed our protection,
“Since this column was posted it has been discovered that the premise presented about the Electoral College and the Constitution is in error.”
Oops.
"But the courts have destroyed our protection,"
The courts have been the tool ; but the force has been humanism, and then socialism, actually pumped into the heads of this generation and part of the past.
I am 56, and I remember socialism, Keynesianism being put into the students' brains in my high school 40 years ago---I remember it as if it were yesterday ; can remember the faces of the teachers, their names, and how they ridiculed the Constitution, the free-market system, and then God Himself, criticizing students from Christian families ---- FORTY YEARS AGO !!
It is possible that some of those very students are sitting on court benches today, ruling against the godly, the patriotic, the pro-family, the pro-work-ethic, the pro-moral. And many who are not on court benches are in the bureaucracies, writing rules and procedures against the godly, the patriotic, the pro-family, the pro-work-ethic, the pro-moral.
And those who sat under that socialist instruction, now have children and grandchildren who have and are sitting in classrooms where an even more virulent strain of godless humanism and socialism has been and is being dumped out into their minds.
What will it be like to live under court judges who are just now graduating from law school, and then those who will graduate over the next decade or two ?????
But all of this certainly didn't begin in the courts, but in the junior and senior high schools from which the current court judges graduated.
When I saw that Allen West had conceded his congressional race, the first thing that came to my mind is : Where are people like Allen West who will go into the same congressional district and teach families, individuals, churches, civic clubs, etc., the truths of economics, and more basically, teach them the source of our blessings and ability to have wealth enough to be a blessing ??
Oops.
Heh. Don't expect any of the hysterics previously littering this thread to suddenly sack up, and confess their mind-boggling gullibility throughout.
Mittens' wholly predictable (and predicted) loss to Herr Zero has driven a significant number of formerly more-or-less sane Republicans full-bore, weapons-grade conspiracy theory looney tunes.
I don’t expect anything. It’s just unfortunate that those who claim to love the constitution know so little about it some times.
Back to lurking.
I’m 53. Somehow, I made it through a public school education, and a public college education, and still have respect for the constitution. I also seem smarter than most of the kids graduating today, which makes me wonder what 40 years of investment in “better education” has accomplished. (well, not wonder really).
“ping”
Great idea, but WHo has the stones to implement it?
Because leftists run practically all public institutions of learning, it is almost impossible for conservatives to even make it through teachers’ college, or if they somehow managed to make it under the radar, to even teach what they know to be true. Home schooling and private schools are almost the only hope for well educated citizens. And because vast numbers cannot/will not do this, IMHO collapse of one kind or another is inevitable. I don’t like it, but I see no other way around it.
I believe you are correct.
I was hoping Romney would win, so as to buy us time to get more conservatives (aka “Constitutionalist”) people in Congress and also in State positions.
Alas, it did not happen. So IMHO it is now pedal to the metal destruction. The commie/black racist/islamic/pervert lovers are going to try their very hardest to destroy everything that is good about America, as fast as they can. And the R party is, other than a few worthy exceptions, a bunch of eunuchs or Dem fellow travelers.
