Sources: DNI cut "al Qaeda" reference from Benghazi talking points, and CIA, FBI signed off

(CBS News) WASHINGTON - CBS News has learned that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) cut specific references to "al Qaeda" and "terrorism" from the unclassified talking points given to Ambassador Susan Rice on the Benghazi consulate attack - with the agreement of the CIA and FBI. The White House or State Department did not make those changes.

There has been considerable discussion about who made the changes to the talking points that Rice stuck to in her television appearances on Sept. 16 (video), five days after the attack that killed American Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, and three other U.S. nationals.

Republicans have accused her of making misleading statements by referring to the assault as a "spontaneous" demonstration by extremists. Some have suggested she used the terminology she did for political reasons.

I don’t get the obsession with Rice. They sent Rice because she was willing to catch the spear, and they knew they could kick up the usual dust of sexism, racism. So when does Clapper resign? As usual, no roads lead to Obama. Isn’t it about time Republicans wrapped this up? They aren’t going to impeach Obama anyway. Maybe it’s worth the exercise to illustrate to the rest of us that still aren’t blind of what we already suspect, Obama is a traitor.

Nothing happens in Barry’s WH unless Valerie Jarrett says it’s going to happen. Jarrett said to cut the reference to AQ. She then told Clapper that he was going to take the fall for it. VJ never takes the fall for anything.

Absolutely. Last Thursday Clapper testified in front of Congress that he didn’t know who redacted the CIA talking points. Then all fingers point towards the White House. And voila...

Now the media claim that James Clapper redacted the CIA talking points.

so Rice lives in a box , no TV, Radio ,Newspapers or Internet

no curiosity, no skepticism, no ferreting out of the truth. And she wants to represent the US on the international stage? Great, she’ll believe whatever Mahmoud and Hugo Chavez have to say...

Prior to the Office of the DNI (Director of National Intelligence), the Director of the CIA was dual hatted with the title DCI - Director of Central Intelligence. In the restructuring of the intel community and based in part of the findings of the 9/11 commission, it was felt that coordination and information flow between agencies would be better served with a new bureaucracy, hence the creation of the DNI.

According to wiki it is “the man” who takes the info to the President! This person sees it all, CIA, FBI, NSA, pdq etc., looks like it's a outgrowth of an organization put in place by one of our favorite old commies, McNamara.

The United States Intelligence Community (IC) is a cooperative federation of 16 separate United States government agencies that work separately and together to conduct intelligence activities considered necessary for the conduct of foreign relations and national security of the United States. Member organizations of the IC include intelligence agencies, military intelligence, and civilian intelligence and analysis offices within federal executive departments. The IC is led by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), who reports to the President of the United States.

...Sen. Chambliss told Chris Wallace, “We’ve got to get some State Department officials in to really explain why you send an ambassador basically unguarded with a few Libyan guards.”...

And this after the British Ambassador was attacked as well as the Red Cross, both deciding to exit Benghazi. And remember that the State Dept withdrew a 16 member security detail in August from Libya as well.

The amazing thing to me is that the media still considers it a GOOD THING that the White House had no clue what the government was doing.

It’s as if the media has forgotten that the executive branch is run by the White House, and everything that is done by a cabinet department is the responsibility of the White House.

So, if you were going to believe what is clearly lies, you should at least ask how every agency of our government was allowed to run rogue operations without the authority, consent, or knowledge of the President.

Apparently, the media thinks we could get rid of the president altogether, and everything would still work just fine.

I guess this is the end result of using affirmative action to pick our President. There’s somebody doing the real job, and everybody appears to know it, and to expect it.

She still lied

Yes she did lie. From the story:

"The intelligence community assessed from the very beginning that what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack." DNI spokesman Shawn Turner tells CBS News. That information was shared at a classified level -- which Rice, as a member of President Obama's cabinet, would have been privy to.

Poor James just forgot what happened, until Valerie reminded him. As for the media, where Barry's WH is concerned they can't remember what happened the day before yesterday.

Why doesn’t Obama just put black muslim lesbians in charge of every department in his government? Then he can truly do anything he wants and no one can say anything about it, because they would obviously just be racist, sexist, islamophobic, homophobic bigots.

Then during the second debate, Obama insists he referred to the attack as an act of terror. This after he had sent out Rice to say it was spontaneous and in response to the video??? This bastard lies incessantly. They lie and then lie about the lie.

"What the heck is the DNI?"

That's a great question and I looked it up trying to figure out who Petraeus reported to as Director of the CIA.

Here's a good reference on all of the executive branch agencies, their mission, leaders, and reporting structure: Federal Executive Branch

Rube Goldberg would be proud.

The CIA is an independent agency that isn't a cabinet level position. It is "independent", but effectively reports to the DNI, which is a committee. Make sense yet? It didn't to me either because the CIA just dangles somewhere in the executive branch and doesn't report to either the president as a member of his cabinet, or another agency head.

If you check out the link, after your head explodes and you get it reassembled, you'll have conclusive proof that there is NO POSSIBLE WAY that our government can function in a rational, effective manner to uphold and protect out constitution.
