The Hill ^

Posted on 11/20/2012 5:31:41 PM PST by INVAR

Snip: The Ohio Republican has smoothed over differences with Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), expanded his powers on the panel that doles out plum committee assignments, shot down a challenge to his earmark moratorium and worked behind the scenes to ensure that Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) would win her leadership contest.

I guess “getting a grip” on the House Repubicans is all he can do, since there’s nothing on which to get a grip in his groin area!

So you want to keep doing the same thing we have been and think it’s a winning strategy. Got it.

Tell President McCain and President Romney they have my thanks.

How do you explain the breathtaking stupidity of the “debt deal”

That came about only because Boehner refused to raise taxes.

As a result the budget got cut.

So you are OK with raising them on the rich?

Here’s your OWS sign.

“Boehner is not much better than a democrat.”

Oh yes he is, because he’s supposedly the “leader” of the opposition party!

Although Congress holds the purse...doesn’t the Senate and ultimately the president have to sign off?

There's a vast difference between losing an election (getting outspent) and losing to Obama in the legislative process. Boehner has to balance the media depiction of his negotiating stance (public phrasing) against a private resolve to get a good deal and keep his House "no" vote intact.

Think of it this way, if TARP were a referendum in 2008 it would have lost 90 to 10. Instead we got TARP and Obama thanks to McCain running back to pass it while Obama cold shouldered it. If we allow Obama the same dynamics as TARP (i.e. if we don't pass some Obamacrap legislation the economy will die) then we will lose another house vote just like TARP.

If the GOP can’t flush this turd down the drain, its time for all conservatives to leave the GOP.

This character contributed to GOP losses in Congress with his pandering to the Dems throughout the fiscal crisis negotiations in the last session and is prepared to expand his damage in the new session.

I can not support any Republican Candidate - ANY Republican candidate - as long as this Quisling holds his title in the House.

Are you paying any attention to what you are typing?

His job as a ‘Republican’ is to NOT allow ANY more taxes. It’s to STOP spending. Is he doing that? No. See, it’s kinda a big thing with ‘our’ side of the fence. Dunno about yours.

There is no point in continuing. You are in lala land. Have a good 4 years.

I’m sorry?

You’re saying that Congress didn’t pass that debt deal? That Obama somehow executed it into law with an executive order?

“Boehner has to balance the media depiction...”

Get back to me when you learn the media is not a 4th branch of government.

His job is both.

He did not allow more taxes. And he did get a deal which cut 1.2 T in spending.

Publicly: 100%. I will look at any legislation in full form (no concepts) that reforms the tax code, closes unnecessary loopholes and restores confidence to investors that taxes will be fair and rational (e.g. we can't triple the dividend tax). In private I will make sure that the as much of the House as possible is behind me and will not get steamrolled by Obama and the media.

The media will force the House to pass Obama’s legislation if they want to. The key is to not make them want to.
