More than three-quarters of homosexuals voted for Obama

WASHINGTON, D.C., November 20, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) -At least three-quarters – and perhaps as much as 90 percent – of homosexual voters supported Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential election, a high return on the president’s decision to court key Democratic constituencies.

A national poll found that homosexual and transgender voters backed Barack Obama over Mitt Romney by a margin of 76 percent to 22 percent.

LGBT voters made up five percent of the electorate, according to Gary J. Gates of the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, which specializes in homosexual and transgender issues. The survey was conducted in conjunction with Gallup.

That is higher than the highest estimate of the homosexual population, which Gallup has said totals 3.4 percent.

The findings were, perhaps surprisingly, lower than other estimates.

A Community Marketing & Insights (CMI) pre-election poll showed nearly 90 percent of homosexuals planned to vote for Obama.

“In this close election, data suggest that the overwhelming LGBT support for President Obama constitutes a key factor in his victory,” Gates stated.

A changing electorate – of which homosexual voters are a favored component – powered Obama to victory.

“Democrats have been winning big over Republicans among gay voters, African-Americans, Latinos, Asian-Americans, and Jews. Some of the groups are relatively small, but together they make up about one-third of the electorate, forcing Republicans to capture much of the remaining two-thirds to win elections,” the New York Times reported. “By comparison, white evangelical voters, who vote overwhelmingly for Republicans, make up about one-fourth of the electorate, and their numbers are not growing as rapidly. ”

Although evangelicals supported Mitt Romney by double-digits, Roman Catholic voters favored Obama by 15 percent.

However, the Catholic vote split largely down ethnic lines. White Catholics, who made up 18 percent of the electorate, supported Romney over Obama 59-40. Hispanic Catholics, on the other hand, favored President Obama by 54 points.

A recent Barna study showed 60 percent of Hispanics believe marriage is between one man and one woman. They are evenly split on abortion.

But Charisma News reports, “54 percent identify themselves first as Hispanic or Latino before American, Catholic, or Christian.”

The electoral loss has some Republicans insisting the party must jettison its pro-life plank and focus on pro-family issues.

Joseph Curl of The Washington Times wrote that the Republican Party “needs to run away from its archaic stance” on abortion and is “on the wrong side of history” on redefining marriage. Charles Krauthammer also proposed that the party embrace amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Principled conservatives have said the worst thing the Republican Party can do is forsake its principles.

Erick Erickson of RedState.com has written the one-quarter of Hispanics and the one-tenth of black voters who supported Mitt Romney “are strongly social conservative and could not vote for the party of killing kids and gay marriage. So, they voted GOP. You throw out the social conservatives and you throw out those Hispanic and black voters.”

Before the election, Bishop E.W. Jackson attempted to lead an “exodus” of black voters who put the teachings of Scripture above party allegiance out of the Democratic Party. He vows to continue his outreach.

Many believe certain fixtures of the Republican establishment are exploiting the 2012 election results to liberalize the party, long a goal of much of the GOP leadership.

Matthew Schmitz wrote in First Things, “As per usual, the inevitable calls to abandon social issues will have more to do with the preferences of individual pundits than a sober reading of the facts

Yer too smart for me to follow Cronos

Sometimes i need things in simpler terms

We southern Baptists being literal and all

We aren’t very ambiguous or nuanced over abortion

In fact my home state has the fewest abortion mills of any state

They fluctuate between none and one

I was however intuitive in my surmising of your fellow traveler on this thread and his wobbly stance on banning infanticide

More than three-quarters of homosexuals voted for Obama

Of course they did - - the Democrat party is the party of faggots, atheists, abortion enthusiasts, union pinky rings, condom-throwers, Boy Scout haters, hand-wringing college professors, Georgetown sluts, Hollywood drunks, America-hating malcontents, the minority "victim" classes, and your garden variety moochers, deadbeats, parasites, and goofballs.

Homosexuals certainly aren't about to vote with normal, taxpaying, traditional American families ("Republicans").

What are you talking about? I am unequivocally saying "Abortion is evil" any and all kinds.

My point is simple -- we take one small step on the slippery slope and soon we end up down

Take "gay rights" -- in 1960 in most countries this was illegal, but by 1989 civil unions were allowed in the Netherlands and soon "gay marriage" is to be allowed in most places - heck, the US will even persecute countries that don't give "gay rights" and soon it will be illegal to NOT allow a gay marriage in your Southern Baptist Church (that's what happened in Denmark in theDanish lutheran Church)

It's the same with abortion, govt sponsored euthanasia etc -- we started this by allowing government to set terms of medical care.

Also, wd, cc is not being wobbly -- he thinks that banning abortion is government interference, precisely because of the reason I stated above -- government is IN the healthcare indutstry and Obamacare, medicare etc. should be cancelled

but, CC, abortion is to be banned based on the simple reason that murder is banned

Murder is isin. Being gay, is sin. We were given the laws by God, our creator, The government is constantly trying to reinvent the wheel, put there ugly stinking feet in my face. We as people need to promote morality and ethics, practice it, teach it. Laws don’t make people moral. The lousey government does not make people moral, they are the most immoral bunch. More laws are not going to fix stupid, they only make it worse. I am anti gay marriage, but I don’t feel that my government should be wasting time and tax dollars on it. This country is going to $#%!, partly because we have lost sight of what our government was established for. We have voted into place over the years, power mongers, nannies, that are not concerned with me or you. I am not wobbly on abortion or anything else that is morally or ethically wrong in my own heart.. People will eventually pay for their sins, judgement comes for all us. I want the goverment out of my house.

That is silly logic.

We have and need plenty of government interference in things that need interfering with like killing babies en utero or beating your wife or molesting children.

Simply being against government interference period is nuts.

Why have government then?

no..if you dig deeper you find folks who toss out such canards are actually not much on culture war and don't think abortion is much of an issue anyhow

at least that is what I've seen usually here in my 12 years

you are either for abortion or not...flowering it all up with libertarian doublespeak doesn;t change it

and speaking of liberty, you would have been hard pressed to find a founder who was in favor of it..even with their primitive means of accomplishing it

therefore opposition to abortion is hardly indicative of the post Lincoln Leviathan that libertarians or government minimalists rail about

Abortion is not a medical procedure anymore than lethal injection is Cronos.

And why the worry with all the libertarian parsing over something that was illegal throughout our founding for the first 190 years and was only legal nationwide for 40 years.

It's not we are rolling back any of the original Bill of Rights.

We would simply be reversing bad law written to code by Blackmun’s poor use of right of privacy...akin to the same poor extrapolation as Robert's tax logic on national healthcare.

Not government interference can be used to excuse anything on the books no because by faulty doublespeak any change mandated is government interference.

Simply having Obamacare now has nothing to do with a preexisting bad law

what do folks like CC expect to happen?

God will swoop in and change the minds of murdering women?

lol...that is nuts

I personally don't think folks who opine from the perspectives I read here care much to be honest.

Leaving everything up to individual choice and behavior is risky business.

Think 4 year olds with loaded Uzis...arguing over cookies.

We have 1000s of years of self government in various forms for a reason, minimal government is a fine ideal but absence of government is foolish.

We would be ruled by thugs and morality would be determined by who had them

it's why we have laws

are you a libertarian Catholic?

that is kind of an oxymoron historically
