San Francisco can require handgun owners to keep their weapons locked when stored at home and can ban bullets that expand or splinter on contact, a federal judge has ruled in rejecting a National Rifle Association-backed effort to block enforcement of the local gun laws.

They should pass a law that compels every American to own a firearm and a minimum amount of ammunition. Failure to comply results in a fine (tax). States should set up gun and ammo exchanges in order to ensure a more competitive market. ;-)
Citizens cant use hollow point ammunition because its so “deadly” but the social security people pack it.
Glad they are looking out for Grandpa. Would not want Grandpa to suffer.
And how do they enforce the locked-at-home bit?
I would add that registration, waiting periods, and requiring IDs to for gun ownership disproportionately suppress minorities’ right to bear arms. We need to eliminate all that. We need to make gun ownership more convenient...perhaps a “Motor Gun Owner” law where you can obtain a provisional gun at your local Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
9th district? Good chance it will be overturned.
This is fantastic news. It will be upheld by the 9th Circus, then overturned by SCOTUS.
Make the funding of the Treasury Department (including secret service) and the DHS contingent on the passage of the Affordable Firearms and Self Defense Act and national voter ID requirements for all federally held offices.
Then I presume when a home owner uses his handgun - which he legally kept in his holster on his nightstand puts five rounds in a Burglar and three go through him and the wall and hit some innocent bystander, possibly killing them, the home owner - aka 'crime victim' - will be legally absolved of any and all responsibility for said collateral damage in using the legally required FMJ ammo, right?
an aside: While you were at it judge you should have also ruled that if using a Shotgun for Home Self Defense that only SLUGS can be used as those nasty 00 pellets in a 12ga shotgun can cause multiple wounds. And that wouldn't be 'fair' to some poor downtrodden person pushed into a life of crime by 'the man'. Now would it?

Knock knock, gun inspector.
In Canada, one tactic was to wait until you used it in self defense, then you had to prove that it was unloaded and locked up, or you were charged with unsafe storage of a firearm.
There is the ever popular means of giving rewards to snitches, and to encourage children to inform on their parents. Children are already being asked whether their parents have guns in the home by doctors, and many doctors are claiming that it is their first amendment right to do so and to enter the information in government databases.
My emotion is with you on this, but we have to be universal that all our rights are kept intact.
They’d be sure to check after an unlawful entry, to cover their arses.
I keep gun locks co-located with my self-defense weapons. In the event that someone asked about safe storage, I could prove that I was capable of complying with even my state's stupid rules. I wouldn't respond until I had a lawyer present, but I do have the means to make my firearms useless for self-defense if I so choose.
Tell this to the Bay ARea gangbangers.. They have more firepower than the rest of the populace.. and the police too.
