The only downside I see to “preferences” is that I do think that as a single person I still would vote to have a “marriage” benefit because it would promote dads to actually marry the mother of their children and THAt is a good thing. The children would be better off with a male figure in the house and single people would still benefit because the parents would be financially responsible for the kids.
(well, guess I’m whistling Dixie to think we can turn this cultural/moral decline around.ha.)
The 10% discount for atheists should be only good at hell’s kitchen.
so I would drop the 10%........its a private facility....no reason why the owner can’t have crucifixes and statues around his place, and maybe play church music softly over head..
Yes it is insane. No more special discounts for females in nightclubs. http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/jurisprudence/features/2011/should_ladies_nights_really_be_illegal_an_excerpt_from_richard_t/week_1/should_ladies_nights_really_be_illegal_an_excerpt_from_richard_t_1.html
It is obviously not discriminatory, but rather, a good business decision. Give the females a break to get them in the club and the men follow.
So, as an old guy, I get a senior’s discount at many places: movies, state and national parks, &c. Isn’t this discrimination (specifically ageism)? I put up with this because I am slightly greedy, but I very often ask the ticket person why I should deserve this discount, and how they know that I deserve this rather than a young parent (for example).
I don’t really like these special deals. However, I am for the right of the sellers to charge according to any crazy scale they wish.
I am not even sure that I approve of special parking places for the handicapped. Many are faking the extent of their disabilities, and if they really are handicapped, they probably should not be driving at all.
Just take the pamphlet and say “God Bless You” if there is not a similar answer “No soup for you”.
Sometime in the 60s I believe
So it’s okay to not serve Jews in a restaurant if the proprietor deems it okay? I am not arguing the idea, but in your stated narrow interpretation that is what you have just said.
I think that is William Rehnquists interpretation actually
Not sure if they still have those in Ohio.
