Co-author of allegedly fabricated 'Three Cups of Tea' commits suicide

David Oliver Relin, co-author of the best-selling book "Three Cups of Tea" that drew allegations parts of it were fabricated, has committed suicide in Oregon, authorities said. * * * Deputy Multnomah County medical examiner Peter Bellant said late Sunday night . . . that Relin died of blunt force head injury, but declined to provide any other details.

I mean no disrespect for Relin, RIP, but how does one commit suicide by blunt force head injury? Sounds like an injury more consistent with homicide although I of course am not privy to the autopsy report with the details.

I know of a jail suicide by beating their own brains out against a cement wall and then the concrete floor. EMTs where in attendance and where too stupid stop letting go of his head. The guy died about 5 hours after reaching the hospital of massive brain injury. The gene pool was cleansed for a short time.

I got half-way through it.

I HATED THAT BOOK.

Truly desperate people (in Cheka custody for example) have managed it by running themselves full tilt into hard walls, even with their hands tied behind their backs, but I think the cause of death had more to do with broken necks. IIRC I read of some incidents in a Robert Conquest book. Could also have been an excuse for over zealous interrogators using the victim like a battering ram. Read it years ago and don’t have the reference so could be wrong.
