NBC's Todd Cites 'Very Smart' WH Aide Claiming With Today's GOP 'There'd Still Be Slavery'

Appearing on Monday's MSNBC Morning Joe, NBC chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd shared some inside information: "So I threw the Lincoln analogy at a close aide to the President last week, and he said, 'You know, with this Republican – with the way politics of Washington are today, there'd still be slavery.' That Lincoln wouldn't have been able to navigate the polarization..."

Rather than dismiss such a nasty partisan attack, Todd observed: "It was an interesting and depressing observation from this very smart White House aide."

Looks like Todd has accidentally provided proof that the tsunami of "everything is racist" crap is being partly fueled by the WH itself.

The only reason a lowly WH aide would make a comment like that is because that is the talk within the whitehouse and the administration.

The movie “Idiocracy” is starting to look more and more like a documentary, rather than a comedy

Sooner or later, even Dems have to get tired of the same lines coming from Dems.

I have to wonder if Dems will EVER catch up to the 21st century and stop living in the 19th??

The Republican response to this garbage should always be:

It is no surprise that the party of slavery, Jim Crow and the Ku Klux Klan now advocates the tyranny of concentrated government power at every opportunity. The only real problem that Democrats have with American chattel slavery is that the slaves are privately owned.

I feel that way everytime I turn on prime time network TV and whatever they are running reminds me of "Ow, My Balls!"

Apparently this "very smart person" never learned that the GOP has its roots in the Abolitionist movement!

So remind me again, Chuck, what party was Lincoln, and what party was Jefferson Davis?

He's right. The democrats were the party of slavery. If the GOP of the 1860's constantly caved in to the rats the way they do today the democrats would have gotten their way and we'd still have slavery.

I was just looking at some northern newspapers from 1860, including one from New Haven CT. The articles were talking about how the democrats of the day were fighting against the dissolution of slavery, and how Lincoln was ignoring the economic impact on cities of the North, like New Haven, that would lose revenue as their ports would not be bringing in cotton and other things from the South. The New Haven newspaper, in particular, was slamming Lincoln in favor of the democrat position of the day.

How we ever went from that to the democrats being recognized as the party representing blacks in America is unbelievable. Propaganda is a powerful tool.
