New lawmakers urged to reject God, prayer

New House and Senate members are being urged to reject an invitation to join the 105-strong Congressional Prayer Caucus by the influential American Humanist Association which claims there is no evidence of God or Heaven.

In a letter to new lawmakers following last week's election, the group warned that Prayer Caucus members too often push legislation that favors Christianity and Christian social morals and that senators and congressmen should abide the Constitutionally mandated separation of church and state.

They also indicated opposition to the practice of opening and closing each session of Congress with a prayer, which "relegates non-religious Americans and others who don't pray to the status of second-class citizens," according to American Humanist Association Executive Director Roy Speckhardt.

I will never understand why atheists care if others believe in God.

Atheism is a religion. It is a pure matter of faith — they believe that God does not exist. What we see here is the continued attempt by one religion (atheism) to get itself Established as the official religion of the nation. They want to stamp out the competition.

Very true. I try to look at them as just lost people who need Jesus, but honestly, I would like to punch them in the face!

Atheists can not prove there is no God. They are so angry that they strike out and try to take away the rights of others.

I would also add that in my opinion, most atheists actually do think that God exists. And this scares them. And angers them. They don't like God. They are hoping they can make Him go away by putting their fingers in their ears and saying "I can't hear you!"

But He's not so easily blocked.

These gnats think that anyone in Washington is going to either pray or not pray due to what they say?

Without space things do not exist, and without time events do not occur. What directs the body and brain is a real and happening ‘thing’, existing in some where/when we have yet to acknowledge because we do not sense it directly. Christians and other religions call that ‘thing’ the soul. To deny its existence is step one in denying that The Creator made that ‘thing’ and thus deny The Creator. Normally, such raving would be called delusional. Because of political correctness run amok (as democraps are wont to do, always!), such ravings are hailed as ‘enlightened’.

Because with faith comes morality and the judgment of peers. Take away the faith and there are no moral restrictions. It’s called evil and it does exist.

“...atheists care if others believe in God.”, For the same reason the criminal doesn’t like it when the cop is holding the flashlight.

As long as God remains in the public square, the sin of the faithless is illuminated.

Some things stated by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, who was imprisoned in a Russian Gulag:

“Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.”

“If I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible what was the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: ‘Men had forgotten God; that is why all this has happened.’ ”

“The meaning of earthly existence lies not, as we have grown used to thinking, in prospering but in the development of the soul.”

“I have spent all my life under a Communist regime, and I will tell you that a society without any objective legal scale is a terrible one indeed. But a society with no other scale but the legal one is not quite worthy of man either.”

“We didn’t love freedom enough.”

“Our envy of others devours us most of all.”

Personally, I think that many atheists and secular humanists are subconsciously envious of those who believe in God.

Appears to just be Christianity. I don’t recall them telling Ellison not to pray.

I believe that Atheists believe that God exists, and that they can punish Him for their lonely lot in life.

I see that they want to believe they have more control over the world, and to prove it, their mission is to make it so others doubt God’s sovereignty.

In their war against God, they have to believe that He exists.

“the Constitutionally mandated separation of church and state.”

Can someone point out where in the Constitution this is?

Great reply.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn, one of the greatest witnesses to the power of belief in the Lord and, on the other hand, the negative power of those who deny Him.

Most excellent question, but I think we know the answer.

Christians don't put "fatwas" on people who deride them, do they?

The United States was not founded by atheists, but predominantly by believers. Cut out the roots and the Tree of Liberty will surely die.
