HOBART | A 76-year-old Hobart homeowner and his wife were targets of scam artists who prey on the elderly, police said.
Three men, who knocked on the couple's door Thursday on the pretext of doing yard work, instead worked to divert their attention, police Detective James Gonzales said.
No money reportedly was stolen by the men, who were inside the couple's house and garage, police said.
The homeowner, who began feeling uncomfortable, grabbed his handgun from inside his garage, but was pushed down by one of the men who took it from him, Gonzales said. The gun was recovered on the couple's property, in the 1200 block of Decatur Street, Gonzales said.

Just a wild guess but I think pops voted for Barry Hussein Soetoro.
They spoke Obama amnesty language. He should have shot the bastards. Illegals are responsible for 24% of all murders in the USA even though they only make up approx. 4% of the population. But that's what you get when liberals and the Repub.-E's kiss the arses of people who are impossible to check for criminal records.

If he shot/injured/killed anyone during this incident,that he welcomed, by allowing them in his home/garage he would be screwed.
He screwed up on many levels.
Not if he felt his life was in danger, which he obviously did or he would not have pulled his firearm, right?
FWIW... When my wife is home by herself, we agreed that she will NOT open the door to any door-to-door salesperson. She will either ignore them, tell them to FO, and/or call the police. She also knows where the 12 guage is if needed.
We can sorta feel sorry for honest persons trying to make a buck, but we are absolutely not going to allow her to take on any unnecessary risk.

“Sir, USE IT next time! You’ve got 6 shots in that wheel gun; there’s only 3 of them. Odds are you’ll hit 1 or 2 of them. USE IT OR LOSE IT!”

Scam 2: Driveway sealing. It’s black paint.
Scam 3: Roof repair. They’ll go on your roof and knock a hole in it. Then it is really going to cost you.

Finally, if someone takes your stupid advice and gets hurt because of it they will own what meager possessions you may have after they win the lawsuit.
