More Hispanic Voting Myths
Wall Street Journal ^ | November 26, 2012 | STEVEN MALANGA

Many a postmortem of Mitt Romney's defeat has focused on his poor showing among Hispanics and argued that Republicans won't do better in national elections until they find a way to appeal to this growing voting bloc, especially by modifying the party's stance on immigration. Yet these analyses often rely on faulty data that overstate the impact that Hispanic voters have on elections. They also typically ignore the fact that, as exit polls show, Latinos are almost certainly voting, like everyone else, on major issues—especially the economy—not on narrow ethnic lines. Latinos are just like other voters, history suggests: they're more likely to vote for Republicans when the party puts forward a good candidate with broad appeal.

Most of the analyses that I've read begin by noting the rapid growth of America's Hispanic population. But one-third of adult Hispanics are not U.S. citizens and consequently can't vote. Even Latinos who are citizens don't vote as reliably as whites or blacks do, and as a result, their population growth rate doesn't translate into commensurate voting power. According to U.S. Census data for the 2010 midterm elections (the most recent national data available), adult Hispanics numbered 32.5 million in the U.S. population, but only 10.9 million were registered to vote and only 6.6 million actually voted (up from 5.6 million in the 2006 midterms). By contrast, of the 155.5 million adult white residents in the United States in 2010, 104 million were registered to vote and 74.3 million did vote. In other words, nearly half of the country's adult whites participated in the 2010 elections; only 20 percent of adult Latinos did.

Sure, as Latinos become more assimilated into American society, their participation rates may increase—but their voting patterns will probably change as well. One recent analysis warns that Latinos' share...

Fine - open the border already.

They’re all chomping at the bit to do it - so go for it.

I’m tired of arguing with people who want to commit cultural suicide.

There is nothing wrong with America and there is nothing wrong with white culture.

Agreed, this is an excellent article. From the article:

Even more to the point is that Romney did terribly among voters who earned less than $50,000 a year, capturing just 38 percent of their votes—and over 60 percent of Hispanic households fit that income profile.

There you go.... another myth is that Republican lose young women because of abortion and birth control. They portray the young women as the post college affluent single women who want the comfort and protection of strong federal government and access to free birth control, i.e., sex and safety. The reality is that many single women are low income earners, in part due to an out of control out of wedlock birth rate. We know it is epidemic in the black community, growing in the Hispanic community (60%) and getting worse in the white community. The reality is that even if the GOP proposed feathered abortion and had drive by birth control, these women are going to vote for Democrats and welfare over the party of personal responsibility.

I wonder why Sen. elect Ted Cruz would say the GOP needs to be less hostile towards Hispanics?

Fine - open the border already.

That's the wrong conclusion Sherlock. The author along with Heather Mac Donald and Victor Davis Hanson wrote:

The Immigration Solution: A Better Plan Than Today's

Undoubtedly the United States needs a liberal and welcoming immigration policy, geared to the needs and interests of the nation. In this urgent new book, three astute observers argue that we have lost control of our southern border, so that the vast majority of our immigrants are now illegal Mexicans. Poor, uneducated, and unskilled, these newcomers add much less to the national wealth than they cost the taxpayers for their health care, the education of their children, and (too often) their incarceration. The Immigration Solution proposes a policy that admits skilled and educated people on the basis of what they can do for the country, not what the country can do for them.

The Ruling Class wants to open the border.

They’re going to open the border.

Good luck stopping them.

Thanks for the link. He didn't say that.

Todd J. Gillman TODD of the Dallas Morning News wrote: "As Republicans regroup from their drubbing on Election Day, Texas’ Sen.-elect Ted Cruz is offering a prescription to rebuild: The party must be less timid toward Democrats, less hostile toward Hispanics, and more focused on upward mobility than on protecting big business."

Later in the story Gillman also wrote: "Noting that 71 percent of Hispanics supported Obama, he called on Republicans to set aside alienating, anti-immigrant rhetoric and to champion legal immigration."

“Immigration matters, especially tone. No one is going to vote for you if they think you don’t like them," was the only quote from Cruz about the matter.

The GOP isn't against immigration. It's against illegal immigration.

As the Great Recesson turns into the 2nd Great Depression, they'll have a great suck in as my mother used to say. Last I read the economy is that bad they illegals are actually self deporting at the same rate as news illegals are arriving according to the Pew Center for Hispanic Research or a similar name.

Meanwhile the Mexican economy is going very well with about 5 % unemployment, IIRC.

In any assesment of the size of latino voting blocs---we must factor in Mexican agit/prop put out by La Raza and numerous groups infiltrating the US----an organized Fifth Column pushing the Third World agenda. The taste of reconquista gets stronger and stronger. The conniving, wily latinos know their extortionate demands will be met----but only when vote-crazed politicans clobberd by latino pressure groups----accede to Third World demands.

=============================================

Mexico is pushing north at a furious space---salivating for reconquista and lusting for US foreign aid billions. "Pressure groups" are being pushed over the border--- financed and coached by the Third World. The wailing and whining propaganda is tailor-made for vote-crazed US politicians who will do ANYTHING for a couple of votes.

==================================================

BLOOD-CURDLING LA RAZA STUDIES TOSSED OUT OF ARIZONA SCHOOLS La Raza Studies does not even try to sugar-coat its anti-America agenda and its blood-thirsty plans to kill off Americans: Raza Studies textbook “Occupied America,” by Rodolfo Acuña, includes a violent and blood-curdling speech given by university professor Jose Angel Gutierrez: “We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is, if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him,” (pg. 323).

The following is taken directly from La Raza's Occupied America (pg. 167): “.......execute all white males over age 16,” (AKA the Plan of San Diego). America-hating Raza Studies teach (1) violence, (2) undermining US ntl security, and, (3) the need for Mexico to "re-take seven states in the Southwest...in order to make the SW a Chicano nation. "

SCHOOL BOARD NUT CASE Adelita Grijalva is the woman on the Arizona school board pimping La Raza indoctrination programs in Tuscon schools. Adelita is all up in arms about Raza Studies getting tossed via the AZ state legislature's action...she is the daughter of Raul Grijalva (D-AZ-7) who was narrowly re-elected to the US Congress.

Cong Raul Grijalva is one of Mexico’s most productive and loyal Fifth Column in the US Congress....aiding and abetting the latino criminal underworld, colluding to take back the SW, and loot and pillage the US treasury.

Mexican Drug Cartel Kills US Coast Guardsman In Boat Attack Off California Shoreline FR Posted 12/03/12 by AtlasStalled

The Mexican drug cartels once again have taken deadly aim against U.S. law enforcement. This time the narco terrorists intentionally rammed their smuggling panga boat against an approaching Coast Guard inflatable which resulted in the death of Chief Petty Officer Terrell Horne III and the injury of another guardsman after they fell into the sea off the southern California coast as reported by the Los Angeles Times. Two suspects have been detained.

The narco insurgents from Mexico increasingly are targeting U.S. officials on both sides of the border: last August two CIA officials were injured in a shooting ambush against their U.S. diplomatic vehicle on a highway south of Mexico City; in Feburary 2011 Los Zetas killed ICE agent Jaime Zapata and wounded his partner who were driving along a highway in the state of San Luis Potosi in a vehicle with U.S. diplomatic tags; in December 2010 the Sinaloa cartel murdered U.S. border patrol agent Brian Terry in southern Arizona; in March 2010 the Juarez cartel whacked U.S. consulate employee Lesley Ann Enriquez and her husband El Paso sheriff's deputy Arthur Redelfs as they were returning home from a child's birthday party in Ciudad Juarez. Meanwhile, President Obama who is charged with securing the border, protecting the people and defending the nation cynically insists that there is no cartel-related spillover violence as he steps over the corpses of federal agents and officials on the blood-soaked ground.

=======================================

COMMENTS Probably drug kingpins were acting on kill orders from the Mexican govt. Mexico is pushing north at a furious space---salivating for reconquista and lusting for US foreign aid billions. Illegals---"Pressure groups"----are being pushed over the border--- financed and coached by the Third World. Vote-crazed US pols will never criticize drug cartels for killing Americans---Mexico would be offended and that might lose pols those "precious" latino votes (cackle).

===========================================================================

Keep in mind, Mexico is the staging area for global terrorists to slip into the USto attack American targets and undermine US ntl security.

HISTORY TELLS US A LOT----Nazi Germany was the leading importer of Mexican oil in WW 11, taking just over half of their annual production.....To counter, American oil and gas production in Texas and Louisiana was elevated. Port Isabel, Texas' large oil refinery was a shipping point for fuel headed to the war, and was considered a possible target for German U-boat shelling or even a shore scurry.

The thing is that MExico is growing pretty quickly -- for the past two years it has been growing faster than Brazil, the power-house of Latin America

Also, the cost per hour of a chinese worker is due to exceed that of a Mexican by 2015 and the cost of shipping has risen sharply, so many companies are moving manufacturing from China to Mexico

At the same time the birth-rate in Mexico is down and decreasing rapidly -- it will be below the US by 2020

Also note that migration to and from mexico has actually decreased -- by 2020, it may be that Mexico has to worry about immigration from Guatemala..
