State Sen. Donne Trotter, who is seeking the congressional seat vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr., was arrested this morning at O’Hare International Airport for attempting to board a plane with an unloaded handgun and a clip with six bullets, officials said.
Trotter, a Chicago Democrat who has served in the state legislature since 1988, was charged with a Class 4 felony, according to a spokeswoman for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

Normally I would favor the gun owner but the hypocrisy is just too rich.

Aren't congressmen generally exempt from arrest when going-to or returning-home [from] Congressional session? Is that the case here?
I would like to see the political caste fed up with the TSA and their illegitimate searches -- dissolution of that agency can, IMO, only be good.

It appears that he doesn’t yet have the seat of a congressman to cover his ineptness . He hasn’t yet been appointed , or elected . So , no - he isn’t covered by Congressional immunity , ..yet !
Was that one of those fashionable “clips” that allows you to carry your weapon on your lapel?

By the way, did the gun have a magazine in it at the time?

Now it is within the realm of possibility the firearm was a revolver and he had a Moon Clip full of ammo.
Of course it’s much more likely the reporter is an imbecile and just vomited words onto his word processor program without a clue as to their meaning.
