Unions steer Calif. Democrats toward cliff

Obamacare doesn't go far enough. The government needs to replace private insurance companies in a complete takeover of health care.

That’s the system California’s union leaders are pressuring Democrats to create, now that they enjoy supermajorities in both chambers of the state Legislature. And their influence is “tremendous,” according to former Sen. Gloria Romero, D-Los Angeles, who served as Senate majority leader from 2001 to 2008.

“California Teachers Association’s former president referred to them as the fourth, co-equal branch of government,” she said. “Nobody has the political and money war chest that they do.”

Odd how they don’t see that by putting Insurance companies out of business they will be adding to the massive unemployment already hurting the country.

If this were to go nation wide (and I’m sure it would) then hundreds of thousands, if not millions, will be out of work with no prospects for future employment.

Unions need to be crushed. Same with their Democrat pets.

If the CTA is the fourth, co-equal branch of government, CARB is the Fifth. The Government Unionist will be at each others throat shortly

They build on the San Andreas fault, it is only right they go over a cliff.

What happens when a ship sinks? The rats drown.

What a neat idea! The unions can work their magic on CA health care in the same way they they made Detroit a socialist paradise.

I live here and am looking furiously for a new job out of state.

It never ends here, the Unions, the Illegal Aliens, the Libtards, the Berkeley-Hollywood crowd, the gays, the moronic politicians.

We want out. I may even walk on my house. F it.

This nation isn't creeping towards Socialism anymore.

It is moving full steam ahead towardsCOMMUNISM.

I am not joking.

"Communism (from Latin communis - common, universal) is a revolutionary socialist movement to create a classless and stateless social order structured upon common ownership of the means of production, as well as a social, political and economic ideology that aims at the establishment of this social order."

When the US Dollar collapses (and it will), Obama and the Democrats will declare property rights are null and void "for the good of the nation."

The ObamaCare takeover of healthcare was a gargantuan step - and now we hear that the Democrats have adopted Class Warfare as an enduring goal rather than an election year strategy.

Class Warfare never stops until the blood runs in the street. Period. That has been its mantra time, and time again in every nation where it was tried.

When we removed God from this nation, we removed His protection.

"The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted."

Psalm 12:8

The United States is rapidly descending into hard tyranny.

It won't be long now.......

Of course they see it. It's part of the plan. If they can drive the insurance companies out of business, guess what happens next. Nationalized insurance run by unionized civil servants. And the insurance will be mandatory, just like health care.

Further down the road I expect the government to nationalize all retirement plans, public and private, in order to correct unfairness and because most pension plans are underfunded. They'll just put all of the funds including social security into one pot and then "administer" it fairly.

"Obamacare doesn't go far enough. The government needs to replace private insurance companies in a complete takeover of health care."

I agree in as far as a complete take over of "Private Health Care Insurance Industry", rather than the "Health Care Industry" itself. In principle and on paper it's a great idea and the way to go. I would even believe that it's constitutional under both the commerce clause and the welfare clauses. Alas though, in our current political climate -- which doesn't appear to have any outs -- I don't believe our government can do a clean and honest takeover. Too many corruptions, too many special interests. If the government were to do this, the law wouldn't have to be longer than one to three pages. Anything longer and you know it's being fiddled with for political purposes.

Maybe you don't understand... Obamacare is designed to put private health insurance out of business. Then institute single payer as you apparently want. Next the federal single payer squeezes the private health care industry out of business. If you need proof of that, look at how medicare squeezes GPs and geriatricians out of business by not paying them enough to cover expenses. Then the remaining doctors are forced to become hospital and clinic employees which will be buried under mandates by the feds until the industry is de facto nationalized.

Obamacare is nothing short of a long term plan to nationalize the largest industry in the US and Obama's goal is to nationalize as much industry as he can with unions becoming de facto government employees.

There should be no doubt of this -- not in anybody's mind.

Obamacare is merely the first step in arriving at nationalized healthcare.

It sure will be special having SEIU thugs, er, I mean union members performing all your health care procedures and care!

No doubt the British NHS will be green with envy. Patients routinely dying of thirst or left to croak unattended in freezing, crowded hallways will be the least of our problems.

But at least it will be "free"...

"Maybe you don't understand..."

I do understand. I told you what I feel is the best way to go, nationalized health insurance, regionalized to spread the risk, perhaps by state. There are ways to make it work properly and efficiently. I also said in our current political climate, it's unlikely that it can be done properly I.E Obamacare. Think of it as an amputation done correctly, quick with a short pain interval then a while to adjust. Obamacare is like amputation with a belt sander.
