Walmart security shoots mother-of-2 shoplifting suspect dead in parking lot as she tries to flee

A 27-year-old mother of two has been fatally shot by an off-duty sheriff's deputy after he suspected her of shoplifting at a Houston Walmart.

Harris County Sheriff's deputies have said that victim Shelly Frey, Tisa Andrews and Yolanda Craig were stealing when they were confronted by Louis Campbell a 26-year veteran of the force who works as a security guard at the store.

According to Campbell the women ran to their car and when he rushed to open the door, they accelerated away - at which point he fired the deadly shot into the car which hit Frey in the neck.

Tragically, Frey wasn't even supposed to be at a Walmart that evening.

Earlier in the year she pleaded guilty to stealing shirts and a package of meat from another Walmart and as part of her plea arrangement she agreed to never enter Walmart stores again.

Scumbags like this dead woman and her friends cause my prices to go up to pay for their shoplifting.
Gee, what a tragedy.

I believe one of the other shoplifters was charged with assaulting the officer when they were leaving the store — that ratchets things up to a higher level than just theft, which is probably why he drew his gun in the first place.

Walmart has cameras all over their parking lots, so maybe we’ll actually get to see if there is a reason the deputy believed he might be hit or run over by the shoplifters car.

She appears to have a long history. She’s a mom, which means she has spawn who likely will continue her tradition. I’m glad she has been removed from the gene pool.

Just looked at the pictures of the three crooks at the link.

That is a lot of ugly in one car.

We had a couple of those around here where the offduty cop shot the people in the back seat ~ if he’d really feared being run over he’d shot the driver through the front windshield of course!

Oh wait! Ubama DOES have daughters. Maybe they can grow up to look like Turquillanda, or whatever her made-up name is.

In the 80s I briefly worked for Bradlees a now defunct dept store chain (left to work for postal service...) Part of the training of being a dept. manager (hardware/paint) was hanging around with Security. We could see live video of people stealing and the security went out and made the pinch and brought them into the office, the videotape being evidence of the act. I forget what kind of penalty the offenders paid beyond being banned from the store but I think we had a police officer there and a woman with her kids was being arrested (brought into police station later). She started crying, waaah, here I am with my kid, what am I gonna do? The cop said “you should have thought about that before
you shoplifted...”

The security guy also used to have a little fun—record on one of the cameras and hit pause, then the shoppers would move away. Play it back and it was liked Bewitched...people suddenly disappearing.

I agree and will take a LONG break from FR if this kind of sentiment becomes prevalant here. Many of these posters seem to have want her shot even if there were no other salient factors — such as aiming her car at the officer. They just want her dead, and probably most others of her race. In fact, these posters are no better than and indistinguisable from an Islamic mob.

as part of her plea arrangement she agreed to never enter Walmart stores again.

We was beat up by a Bible salesman and banished from Woolworths.

Everett, was it the one branch or all of them?

According to this story and others, the “security guard” was an off duty police officer and was in uniform. It’s possible that the officer thought he was going to be run over. We don’t know for sure because writers seem to get foggy when it comes to details that could justify the officer’s actions.

From the article:

After chasing Frey and the other two women to their car, Campbell opened the door and commanded them to stop, but the car was placed in drive and moved forward.

'I think it knocked him off balance and, in fear of his life and being ran over, he discharged his weapon at that point,' said Thomas Gilliland, Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

You clearly are a person who does not understand the concept of degree. If you believe shoplifting is a crime whose consequence should be death your views are no different than fundamental Muslim law.

Upon second thought, their belief system is closer to the founding fathers than yours.

Trick with the shoes is it takes an awful lot of force to yank you out of your shoes ~ just saw that on one of those Myth Busters shows ~ they had to almost demolish the imitation flesh dummy to bust him out of his shoes.

The officers shoes may be lying in the lot for some other purpose, or maybe those aren't his shoes.

More information is required, but this guy was off duty, not really a cop at that point, and subject to Wal mart rules. They have a stable of good lawyers and they always win ~ but will they back him up?

'Shelly was the perfect mom, perfect friend, perfect daughter,' said her father, Shelton Frey.

But, as it turns out, not the perfect shoplifter.

He can use the weapon only to protect himself or others from deadly harm.

Does speeding through a crowded parking lot full of people qualify?
