Although the president has been criticized by Republicans for "campaign style" rallies on the "fiscal cliff," the president today will hit the road when he heads to Michigan to tour Daimler's Detroit Diesel Corporation. The White House said he will talk again about the "fiscal cliff" and, if a deal isn't struck before the end of the year, how devastating it will be to the economy and the middle class. His remarks come on the heels of his weekly address over the weekend where he repeated that he won't budge on letting the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy expire.

I have come to the conclusion that this fight is a lost cause for Republicans. Taxes will go up for everyone if they do nothing. If they compromise, they will also go up. It doesn’t matter how any one feels or what they think about it. The political class is going about the business of betraying those they represent and most of the country has decided to go along for the ride. My only hope is that at some point soon, people will begin to wake up and see what they are doing to themselves and their countrymen. Until then I am forced to face the fact that conservatives really have no representation at all in our government.
Obama’s Communist Method.
The taxes go up automatically not requiring a vote but the question is will these R folks actually vote for a tax bill that sets the new rates between this years Bush rates and the automatic levels (Clinton era) ? This sounds like a lose lose.
Seems like they should separate the two in to bills extending <$250K and <$250K send to the Senate and calling Obma’s bluff, rather than be holding up one as hostage to the other.
I would like to know if House Rs send that bill extending the lower ones (all income <$250K) on what basis will he object to them? Debt limit.
O is out there warning of how terrible it would be if we go over the cliff and he has it easy, he can decide what bill ever reaches his desk. So Reid refuses to vote on a house bill and he blames it on house Republicans.
Who on the R side is out there accusing O of forcing us off the cliff to get a better deal? Anyone ever think of that?
Raising taxe on the successful won’t help....we are wayyyyy past that. Obama wants even more money to pay his backers...the unions...the middle class will lose entirely as we head into Socialism and their business’s shut down...Obamacare has already spread its cloud of expense despair over thousands of jobs. Obama wants Socialism...not Capitolism and the free market - these silly politicians on both sides haven’t the brains to see it or, maybe they want Socialism also.
Boehner and the Republicans will cave to tax hikes, and do nothing....likewise, they'll agree to "future cuts", which will be token, at best, if any occur at all.
Obamacare will hike taxes and costs for the "protect the Middle Class" bullshit rhetoric, and the zombies of Obama will think they "won".
The president is waging a war on successful people, and successful businesses, don't you know! War, WAR, Revenge !
uh, that is the president thinking, war, WAR,Revenge, NOT me.
In the meantime, his thugs are headed to Lansing to try and trash the capital and intimidate the Gov into not signing the RTW law. Democracy in action.
I hope with these delays he is just cutting into his Christmas vacation.
Obamugabe is a scumball.
If the “fiscal cliff” deal is so devastating, why did obama sign onto it in the first place?
Obama better not show up in Detroit without the Bacon! Hero worship is one thing but showing up without Bacon might not play well in the Ghetto formally known as the Motor City. Quid Pro Quo with extra mayo please!
still campaigning and never leading.....
You would have thought he would have picked an American company?
...American owned, that is.
BO is small-minded, lazy, antsy, distracted, unhappy; he hates America and Americans; he is not calling the shots and flits around, hoping to avoid doing anything at the WH....that’s what he has all the czars for.
He is the worst ever and and the sorry Republican Congress will not fight back. I am afraid our beloved country will not survive his second term
Rush explained this on Friday:
Obama doesn’t care if we go over (or are going over) the cliff. All he wants is Boehner to sign on to taxing the rich.
Because if Boehner agrees to this, it will be a tacit admission that the Reagan and Bush tax “cuts” were a mistake and were the cause of all our present problems. This is what will be taught in all the economics and history books forever.
We’re going into a depression and Obama is only concerned with pushing ideology.
