It took one bullet in the back of the head to kill a 31-year-old man visiting Manhattan on Monday, in a shocking, broad-daylight attack near Columbus Circle and Carnegie Hall, a police source said Monday.

The suspect, described as wearing a brown hoodie, a dark coat and khaki pants, fled the scene in a grey vehicle, cops said.

"He was bleeding bad,” Kolo said. “Blood was gushing out of his eyeball, his nose, mouth, everywhere. He was talking a little. Or trying to. He was alive for good two minutes."

"You could not even see anything on one side of his face. It was gone,” he continued. “Half of his face was gone. Poor bastard. I didn’t even see a shooter. I hope they catch him."

I don’t know the film - sorry. It’s right near Carnegie Hall.

I better ask Bob Costas how such a thing could happen in a city with strict gun control laws. I guess the answer is to have the police do random searches of all law abiding citizens, as well as gun checkpoints at every block in Manhattan. This really isn’t such a bad idea, and I think that people living in these deep blue areas really do deserve this type of service as long as they pay for it.

The war on whites by blacks continues unabated, in DC recently several blacks beat two white women on the metro and stole their Iphones, then posted the video on their FB page.

Columbus Circle is one of the safest places in the city, after St Patrick’s Cathedral and the Metropolitan Museum. The Time Warner building is there, with dozens of upscale restaurants and stores and Whole Foods, and it’s on the corner of Central Park South where the horses and carriages take tourists on rides through the park. It is always active and jammed with both locals and tourists. It is not a place where drugs are sold.

Great movie. It’s drama with fairy tale elements, where an orphaned musical prodigy uses his gift as a clue to finding his birth parents. Robin Williams stars in it as sort of a Fagin. Also stars Freddie Highmore as the prodigy. See:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0426931/ for more details.

Bob Costas just reported that if there were no Columbus Circle, that man would still be alive today.

The article had the make/model/color of the car and also information that it headed down 7th Avenue. You know it had to encounter traffic, stop lights and several surveillance cameras. They will find the owner .. and it will turn out it was reported as stolen two days ago.

This is creepy, tho, because I walk right by there whenever I’m in NYC.

Perhaps, but my point about hits and assassinations is still true. .22 LR bullets tend to deform when they hit anything very solid, this can be witnessed by noting the slightly larger exit hole in a tin can. Something more solid, like a skull would flatten it into a pancake. Now this may or may not be true but I had either heard or read somewhere that the bullet deforming makes it impossible to do ballistic comparison on. That makes it difficult to prove the murder weapon if the suspect is later caught and tried.

This was on West 58th, between Broadway and 7th, one block away from Central Park South.

It was such a great neighborhood when I was a kid. The Carnegie Hall Cinema (best retro film house in the city), the Russian Tea Room, the Coliseum bookstore, all the small French restaurants...sigh. I always wanted to live in that area.
