London: Britain's Ministry of Defence says a Sikh soldier has become the first guardsman to parade outside Buckingham Palace while wearing his traditional turban. Fifty family members were on hand on Tuesday as Guardsman Jatinderpal Singh Bhullar as he took part in the changing of the guard at the London home of Queen Elizabeth II.

Sihks are good people. Tough warriors. Anti Islamic. What’s not to like about them?

Yes, but he’s putting his religion/customs ahead of duty. I am sure there is somebody else who would wear the regulation uniform but is not a guardsman because of this Sikh.

Indeed. The Sikhs have a long history and tradition of service to the Crown. I’m fine with it.

During WWII, the Brits had Sikh military police. They would stroll the streets. Not many limeys messed with them.

It was a Sikh who was killed here in the Phoenix area by a white dummy who thought he was Afghan because he wore a turban. Walked in and shot the man. Not much to be proud of there.

I agree that Jesus can’t come soon enough. Because if you’re a racist or a bigot, He will rid you of that soon enough by His grace.

The picture at the link does show a Guardsman in Greatcoat, but with a black turban in lieu of a bearskin. Highly irregular.

The picture that you posted is a Canuckistani cavalry officer of some territorial regiment. Note the Mountie and the maple leaf on the regimental badge on the turban.

I know very little about Sikhs. I know they’re not muslims, so that’s in their favor. There was a time I’d have thought this a bad idea. For a state to subjugate it’s distinctiveness, particularly when it comes to the military, to an individual’s religion.

But, in the world we’re in today, it doesn’t matter. America is in a death roll, being overwhelmed by illegal immigrants, and takers, (often one in the same). England, and the rest of Europe, seems to be in a hurry to jettison their unique culture.

The world is descending into a new Dark Age, driven by liberals and muslims. It’s not going to be pretty.

I would not mess with that man for any amount of money. He looks like he would rip off your head if ordered to.

There is an unexplainable Sikh cult here at FR.

This nonsense is destructive of the West and is the loss of our own culture and common sense.

Conservatives for multiculturalism, even in the military.

It really doesn’t matter whether they are good guys.

There is a uniform. Does a Marine in dress blues get to wear a turban????????

There is a specific uniform that is worn when guarding the Tomb on the Unknown Soldier. When they are walking the mat the uniform requirement is so specific that they don’t even wear their rank insignia.
Should they be allowed to wear Turbans? What about an Amish Shaker hat.

Can a female Marine wear a burka?

Are we talking about the SAME armed forces?

This guy is a Sikh, serving in a BRITISH (or CANADIAN) unit. We’re not speaking of the US military. As far as I know, they DON’T allow turbans to be worn in any of OUR armed forces, and also as far as I know, there aren’t any plans to change that.
