Fine.

The sooner the chaos, the better.

Me, too! I was 17 and fresh out of High School...standing in line to buy gas for my old VW Bug and driving to my cr@ppy retail job for $3.45 an hour!

Oh, those sure were the days! Why, it’s almost as if we’re reliving them AGAIN - BY DESIGN! *SMIRK* :)

There's actually a pretty good reason the far Northeast uses heating oil ~ it used to be cheap. Now it's not.

They can be converted to natural gas but that takes time, and probably a few more pipelines, and undoubtedly the Democrats in New York gotta' get out of the way of fraking.

Governor Cuomo is the one freezing people in Maine to death this year. Last year it was Obama's turn because he refused to approve the oil pipeline from Canada. Next year it'll be someone else in the can.

You may have noticed other regional differences in heating fuel choice ~ to a degree (that's a pun) that depends on availability of fuels ~ eg. coal, or oil, and the average climate ~ long, nasty and brutish, like New England, or gentle breezes, friendly people like the Mid Atlantic ~ where we can use heat pumps which run on electricity from whatever source (actually mostly coal).

New Englanders got caught with their britches down this year ~ but they voted for it. Those Democrats screwing with them are their own chosen saviors. It's going to get worse before it gets better.

Hm.

Most of these people receiving aid are in blue states.
Most of them voted for Obama.

Screw it. They voted for this, let them freeze or not as their abilities and finances dictate.

I know this is overused, but if the Founders could see us now. Federal home heat aid?!? Split a damnable rail, you pansies.

I recall vividly $1.25 an hour. Adjusting for inflation that was nearly the peak ~ today worth about $10 an hour.

When I was in college here in MN I rented a house with a friend. We had to pay big lump sums to fill our tank with gas, as opposed to steady lower bills. One dark winter we let it slide for a week or so, and that was something. Four layers of clothes, hats, gloves, and scarves inside. The worst was getting out of the shower.

But it wasn’t so bad. I didn’t die. Gave me reason to study in the library and show up to work on time.

Or get a tax credits for wood burning appliances (renewable fuel wood, pellets etc). But for seniors and others living alone or with limited mobility in an era when extended families don’t exist, I do get that these tasks can become extremely difficult, even insurmountable.

Faye McDonald is relying on me to heat her home, not a “federal program”.

Unless they are paying her bill out of the 40 cents for every dollar of the fed budget that Bernanke and Geithner create out of electrons.

Re people in the NE and “I’m surprised we don’t subsidize their outhouse”. News Flash - we do! Called welfare etc. Includes paying for their Representatives and Senators.

If there ever were denizens of outhouses, it is the liberal/leftist politicians of New England. SHIT IN, SHIT OUT!

“If that happens, there’ll be an automatic 10 percent reduction in funds from the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.”

Shouldn’t GLOBAL WARMING just about make up for this...sounds like a push to me.

I do wonder how many of the old farts have kids with beuko-bucks, that could easily help them out. I suspect the answer is MANY, if not a majority.

It’s time that the government stop trying to be a provider to all - I have kids, and they have $16 Trillion in debt and growing BIG-TIME every year. Enough is enough.

If you voted for more government your whole life then you can freeze to death. If you are my neighbor I'll cut the firewood and heat your house. But if all you want is government assistance then good riddance.

Sounds cold blooded but so is Communism. It's so cold blooded it will kill all of us just for “wanting” to be free.

A top to bottom overhaul of Indolence policies is needed. Indolence costs are buried across the spectrum of government. Each citizen is only owed what they earn. Government is not responsible for cradle to grave care for those who will not earn for themselves.

If the Christian religion may not act to worship in the public square, then Christian ethos - caring for a fellow man - has no place in policy making - or guilt tripping Christian citizens to part with their wealth

If worst comes to worse, they can wear a cap in the house, put on two pair of socks, long-handled underwear, wear gloves if needed. Sit on the sofa under a blanket. But it won’t be pretty. The cap is the really important thing to remember.

So the “media” turn up the spigots of pressure on the Repubs to “fold” and “prove” the omnipotence of their selected boy-king. The “news” media are salivating and can’t wait to write the reports of the “complete and utter” collapse of the Repub party.
