Walker was asked Wednesday about whether he would push to make Wisconsin a right-to-work state on the heels after his proposal in 2011 that effectively ended collective bargaining for most public workers.
Walker said that introducing a right-to-work bill could lead to massive protests like what happened last year over the collective bargaining bill. He said those protests and the recall elections that followed created uncertainty for job creators.
Walker said, "The last thing I want to do is create the sense of uncertainty out there."
Walker stopped short of saying he would veto a right-to-work bill should it pass.

Why yes, we mustn’t have protests. Why, if they feel that strongly about it we better give in to them!
WI’s problem is the mess in their state senate, the infamous fleebaggers scenario.
They simply don’t have the numbers unlike Michigan’s overwhelming, veto-proof GOP senate 26-12.
Besides, Walker already ripped apart collective bargaining which is a whole lot more damaging to the union’s power than a simple RTW.
Yes. Ending the state witholding for union dues was the precedent, let the unions fight in other states now for their un-lives.

What Governor Walker did to public sector unions is much more damaging than RTW. Private sector unions are dying on there own no reason to fight that battle now.
I have to say though I grew up in Michigan and always dreamed of a day Michigan would be RTW never thinking it would happen, but Snyder proved himself a hero.
Six months ago, WI was ground zero in the fight.
They need a rest. I do not begrudge Walker some breathing room.
Time for other GOP Govs to step up and do their part.

That’s OK. He successfully defended a major beachhead in Wisconsin. Sit tight and let businesses take advantage, show some growth. Let the spotlight move elsewhere for a moment. Get reelected, then move on RTW.
He wouldn't. If RTW happens in Wisconsin, it will happen Michigan-style: A bill rushed through the State legislature, giving the Liberals and unions no time to stop it.
Governor Walker would have been stupid if he announced that he supported RTW. Better to let his enemies think they have him scared.

Agreed. I also concur with Gov. Walker's reasoning about "creating uncertainty", coupled with the fact that WI Republicans don't have a decided majority in their legislature.
Walker's earned his stripes. Time for other Governors to earn theirs.

With last year’s legislation, Wisconsin doesn’t need any “right to work” law.
He definitely earned a break.
But the Democrats do not take breaks. They hit and hit and hit and hit again. Then hit more. That is why they win.
I do not see this as caving by any means, but a constant and remorseless pressure must be applies, otherwise the Dems will regain lost ground.

The Dems for all their foibles have remarkable party discipline—always on message, regardless of whether the message is garbage or not. And they defend their own all the time.
Sometimes I feel we are herding cats on our side. Leaders need to rise—and soon—and take the battle to the Communist Dems.

What he already achieved was extraordinary and he expended a lot of political capital to do it. I don’t fault him for not waging this battle at this time.
Besides he probably could not get it passed through his current Senate - a 1 vote majority including a Senator who voted against the first round of legislation.
