In a new interview with Esquire, former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger reflects on his time in public office and shares what hes learned about politics.
You cant learn charisma, said Schwarzenegger. The power of influence is one of the most unique powers that you can have. Its not the power of controlling people. Its developing a certain skill of communicating what you want to accomplish so that people will follow you.
Schwarzenegger also said, Be a public servant. Not a party servant, a statement that isnt surprising given the fact that his own views werent always in line with Republican doctrine.
Speaking about taxes, Schwarzeneggers got no problem paying them, he says. I always tell my accountant, If youre in doubt about taxes, pay more. No Cayman Island offshore investments. No gimmicks. I love paying my taxes!
There were a number of moments during Schwarzeneggers time in office that caused him to scratch his head.
I remember when I went into politics, the legislature wanted to create a blueberry commission. Whos gonna say no to a blueberry commission? Well, I said no. I thought they should fix the budget before they do the fuking blueberry commission.
And: Politicians admire the military people who go to Iraq and risk their lives. Well, how about having just 10 percent of that courage?
We must teach the future leaders that political courage is not political suicide, concludes Schwarzenegger.
Schwarzenegger is making a return to movies: Last Stand, in which he plays a sheriff trying to prevent a fugitive from entering his town, hits theaters in January
You also love to give your good friends son time off for murder too.
I’m glad this phony never fooled me like he fooled some around these parts.
Great, you can pay mine too!
Does he like paying child support too?
I do to! Just not 60+% of my income. I would pay 25% with no exemptions. We should have a choice.
Well, he also likes shtupping the hired help, so I’ll take his opinion with a healthy bit of skepticism.
hey arnold, want to pay mine?
didn’t think so
Good! Then kick in double or triple and maybe in twenty years the California tax payers will recover the money spent on your daily jet-commute between Los Angeles and Sacramento.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger must have little of the trouble with money that the cost of taxes makes us peons feel. Here is a man that with an estimated wealth between $500 million and $750 million. Because he fathered a child with a member of the couples domestic staff, he found himself divorced from Maria Shriver and a divorce settlement between $250 and $375 million. Because for him money is no object, he is willing to throw away his marriage, his money and, of course, his high California taxes.
I wonder what Governor Arnold’s call-girl bill comes to each month?
Don't let that get out of this thread.. if the Obamas see it they just liable to start living in Chicago and commuting on Air Force One and Air Force Two at a cost of $180,000 an hour to operate each -- plus a wide-body for the kids and another one for grandmother.
it’s posts like these that test my profanity proclivities.
Paying taxes for Arnold is probably right up there with “schtoopin” the maid.
When you are in your sixties and you have 100+ million dollars, it’s easy to offer to give away a big chunk to buy safety from mob anger.
When you “made” 200+ thousand last year, as you busted your ass in a small enterprise startup, working 100 hour weeks for years, it looks a little different.
Every liberal who has more money than time will likely say the same thing as long as they have the remaining bucks to sustain their exhorbitant lifestyles.
Me, I cherish every dollar I receive and detest giving a single dime to a government that really has no right to it........
What bugs me the most though isn't the amount of money that the IRS steals from me (yes, it's stealing when my money is taken disproportionately and under threat of force based on a majority vote), but the fact that Congress wastes that money and no one minds because they see the wasted money as tax dollars from the rich.
BTW, just like the "rich" doctors and lawyers, I passed my tax rates on to my customers, who passed the cost on to theirs, so that the middle class ended up paying the taxes that they thought would fall on the rich. It's a shame liberal voters are too stupid to learn from the real world.
go back to Austria you communist piece of shit!
I suppose if I had an endless supply of money like Arnold taxes wouldn’t bother me too much either.
Arnie, try getting by on about 1/10,000 of what you have and you’ll find that taxes aren’t so pleasant.
He invests in a lot of real estate, so he doesn't need Cayman for tax avoidance. He has a big mouth like Buffett. Let's see a real accounting statement. Talk is cheap.
