I knew a girl in high school that was prescribed the "pill" for sever acne. She was VERY popular once the blemish cleared up.
Perhaps, but as a Catholic, that is wrong.

17. Responsible men can become more deeply convinced of the truth of the doctrine laid down by the Church on this issue if they reflect on the consequences of methods and plans for artificial birth control. Let them first consider how easily this course of action could open wide the way for marital infidelity and a general lowering of moral standards. Not much experience is needed to be fully aware of human weakness and to understand that human beings—and especially the young, who are so exposed to temptation—need incentives to keep the moral law, and it is an evil thing to make it easy for them to break that law. Another effect that gives cause for alarm is that a man who grows accustomed to the use of contraceptive methods may forget the reverence due to a woman, and, disregarding her physical and emotional equilibrium, reduce her to being a mere instrument for the satisfaction of his own desires, no longer considering her as his partner whom he should surround with care and affection.
Finally, careful consideration should be given to the danger of this power passing into the hands of those public authorities who care little for the precepts of the moral law. Who will blame a government which in its attempt to resolve the problems affecting an entire country resorts to the same measures as are regarded as lawful by married people in the solution of a particular family difficulty? Who will prevent public authorities from favoring those contraceptive methods which they consider more effective? Should they regard this as necessary, they may even impose their use on everyone. It could well happen, therefore, that when people, either individually or in family or social life, experience the inherent difficulties of the divine law and are determined to avoid them, they may give into the hands of public authorities the power to intervene in the most personal and intimate responsibility of husband and wife.

Well, the article is very brief, so it’s not clear what he’s talking about.
Evidently not condoms, since they are already available over the counter.
Some birth control pills are abortificient, and some are not. Most of them are dangerous to women’s health.
They are already easily available, however, and it’s not hard to find a doctor to prescribe them. But at least some doctors might caution these women about the health risks, while agreeing to prescribe them after the warning.
The birth control pill is just much more convenient and does the same thing....prevents pregnancy.

If it were “over the counter” it would be much cheaper, since no ducktors would be skimming a gratuity off of it.

Well, no. The Catholic Church supports other methods (for example natural rhythm method) which prevents conception and also results in fewer Catholics. It is the fact that some birth control pills prevent an already fertilized egg from being implanted that the Church objects to...the whole “life begins at conception” thing. Since the article is short on details, we are speculating as to Jindal’s intent here. The rest at this point is immaterial.
Not a biblical proverb, but an oft-repeated quote during the campaign months. It comes from Foster Freiss, a Rick Santorum backer. In a televised conversation with Andrea Mitchell (ugh) he commented thusly about contraception: “On this contraceptive thing, my Gosh it’s such [sic] inexpensive,” he added. “You know, back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraception. The gals put it between their knees, and it wasn’t that costly."
It's one of the comments that was repeated over and over to make Pubbies look out of touch.

Maybe Jindal sees his job as being the Governor for all the state’s residents, rather than just the Cathoilic ones?
Maybe Jindal sees the proper role of government generally, as being limited?
Never met a Catholic who didn’t take the pill...Or have their tubes tied OR hubby had a vasectomy. Let’s be truthful about this.

We need to get the govt OUT of medicine...
STHU abt anything but govt spending, taxes, defense and only things that are in your Constitutional directive...
So can water. However its not the same level of risk nor do people usually need expert advice on the use of aspirin beyond the instructions on the bottle.
But hey if you’re willing to experiment with your girls go ahead, with them.
