Thanks for the excellent post & the ping, respectively!
thanks for the ping, good post, it sure his home when you see a FReeper experienced this carnage first hand.
And 3200 babies in the USA are aborted — that’s a 911 every day!
‘Reset’ is a better term.
‘Reboot’ suggests we go back to where we are now. No thank you.
Thanks for the ping!
Wow. It's amazing that Freepers are everywhere, including, in this case — RIGHT WHERE IT COUNTS THE MOST.

Maine, you are absolutely right about DTogo’s access to the media.
DTogo — PLEASE find a FOX News reporter or any local reporter who is willing to speak with you and advocate your plan. Contact your state NRA chapter or local gun clubs for help if you haven't done so. Unless you are totally isolated from your neighbors in your political views, you have at least some fellow Newtown residents who agree with you on guns.
It's a correct proverb that he who defines, wins. If Newtown has a significant number of conservatives living there, you can define the agenda in ways that people in Washington or in your own state capital cannot control.
As a Newtown resident, you have been given a bully pulpit. I checked your post posts on Free Republic and it's obvious you know how to communicate online. That could easily translate to communicating to a national audience.
How about organizing a group with a name like “Newtown Parents for Protecting Children via the Second Amendment”? If it's a significant number of Newtown residents, I believe you will be able to get immediate national media attention and completely change the agenda for the debate.
You may not win locally in Newtown, but you may very well be able to prevent the national gun-grabbers from co-opting your community for their anti-gun agenda.
This is not the time to be approaching victim's parents out of the blue, of course, but since the shooter's mother was a gun collector, it's likely she was a supporter of the Second Amendment and had friends who agreed with her. I believe her own family and close friends, as well as family and friends of those who were murdered in the school, may be especially useful if they are willing to speak up and say they support gun rights as a deterrent against more tragedies like this one.
Obviously people are grieving. This is no time to put words into people's mouths. But on the other hand, the leftist anti-gun people are already trying to use this tragedy to advocate their views, and if there are significant numbers of Newtown people who support the Second Amendment, this is a perfect time to prevent the left from co-opting a tragedy for their own agendas.
I drove through Sandy Hook for the first time in weeks last night, and it’s very very gut-wrenching for such an otherwise quiet hamlet of Newtown. I plan to take my youngest there in a couple hours for her edification, and if I see a reporter it’s probably time to speak up. I want to be sensitive to my neighbors, but it’s time to speak up about our Rights, and protecting our children from evil.
It's past time to admit the simple truth. Having armed, law-abiding citizens all around us will keep us all safer than about anything else we can do...and it is proven in the statistics and what has happened in the past at such incidents when they were there.

Thank you for that information Jeff! It may come in useful here at a town hall meeting if someone retorts that an armed citizen has “never” stopped a crazed gunman - those stories never get the same level of (if any) media attention.
