The Great California Commercial Vehicle Purge is underway
12/15/2012 | TW

Posted on 12/15/2012 11:20:45 AM PST by twistedwrench

All “registered owners” of vehicles weighing more than 26,000 GVW have received this letter over the past couple weeks. This edict, only applies to diesel powered vehicles used as a function of business. Privately used vehicles are exempt, at this time. Compliance is very expensive, Diesel Particulate Filters, start around $10,000.00 per vehicle. New vehicles are as high as, $140,000.00. This is an enormous expense to California business owners, which obviously will be passed on. California business also has to comply with a carbon credit scam and undoubtedly, the future recension of Prop 13 protection of commercial property.

There are no words that can describe the insanity of the people controlling this state.

Just one of the reasons when I owned a trucking company I never once allowed any of my trucks to cross the California border. They can keep their produce or whatever and find another source for trucking stuff in as far as I was concerned.

Want to stop this insanity? Truckers hit by this just refuse to deliver goods and services in or to CA. Three days without food in LA should be enough. SF, on the other hand, would be OK with homosexual cannibalism.

If your HOA owns and operates the equipment for its own property, the requirement does not apply. Don’t let the HOA staff cave in on this.

The equipment is owned by the HOA, not an individual.
Our HOA is a cooperation, so I am thinking we get the squish.
However, they are working with the HOA lawyer on this issue, so if that is an option they will invoke it. (Sure hope you are correct)

As long as the HOA owns the roads (as easements) it does not apply.

They cannot apply it to out of state vehicles.

California has no control of interstate commerce. They are still under a court order from the requirement to add smog equipment to cars purchased out of state.

Early in his first term, Illinois governor, Rod Goblowabitch proposed a special tax on trucking companies. A group of independent truckers formed a delegation and visited with him.

They reminded him just how mobile their businesses were and that they would move, as a group, to neighboring states if he pushed a new tax on them. Good old crook Rod let it quietly drop.

Sounds like a good chance to pick up a 10 year old or so truck at a discount and move it out of state.

It says it has the authority in the letter. I totally agree with you, they can’t do that, but they can try, and that’s money spent on lawyers straight out of the pocket.

Got a lot of misogyny in you, eh?

I’d say there are in sum more such men in government hierarchies than women.

Well, each piece of property is 2.5-3 acres with easements for the roads......I’ll call the president of the board an ask her if this has been checked on.
Thanks.

This is an enormous expense to California business owners, which obviously will be passed on.

In many cases, it will be passed on. In some, though, it won't. Customers will have out-of-state options. Those businesses will just go away. Either way, it's economic destruction.

Does Karl Malone still own a trucking company in Nevada?

Something tells me he is about to become incredibly wealthy to the point that his old NBA paychecks will look like chump change by comparison.

There are more men in government than women.

However, women in government are the ones who push this type of “progressive” agenda. CARB is one place where you can observe this, the EPA (and the head of the EPA under Clinton and now Obama were/are women), as well as the most zealous proponents of gun control, restrictions on freedoms and businesses in Congress are women, with very few exceptions.

There’s no getting around the evidence on this issue: women in non-elected, unaccountable bureaucratic leadership jobs are the major proponents of a lot of regulatory mischief in the last 20 years.
