Ever notice how these mass shootings really took off after the ACLU got the psychos out of the institutions?
My dad bought us a .22 Springfield single shot back in 1961.
No serial number. No waiting period. Cash and carry. $12.00.
I have a friend who was a teacher in Alaska. The polar bears became a problem. Think about it. Your kids are waiting at the bus stop for the school bus when along comes the hungry polar bear. The parents and teachers were required to take turns riding shotgun on the school bus to protect the kids. And you had to have a rifle capable of stopping a polar bear. I don’t know if that’s the best solution, but it is a solution.
Would you as a taxpayer be willing to pay for the time the teachers take to train to develop this additional skill or should it just be a mandated condition of employment? Do you think you would better than the police officer at the Sikh temple shooting that got shot even though he had a partner and was forewarned? How long to get the kids out of the building?
Heck yes on shooting to kill. I agree with no Annie Oakley crap. My friend says you need to go for the headshot after the torso because of body armor. Remember this guy is doing rapid fire with a 30 shot magazine (two 30s taped together). I don’t know how many additional magazines he had available.
As for the pay, my county paid zip, nada, zilch so I could become the 3rd person in our gun-free zone building to be allowed to carry. That means the gun(s), the ammo, the CPL class, the range time, all of it was paid for by me. Oh, I even had to use sick/vacation time to cover the trips to gun boards and sheriff’s depts (live and work in different jurisdictions) and the gas. So it was expensive. Was it worth it? HELL YES!
So, yes, I as a taxpayer, would gladly pay for a teacher to be armed and trained...with one caveat. I would directly do the paying....meet at the gun store, meet at the range, go to gun board, etc. There is no way I would just send a check to my local school board and count on them to use the money as intended.
My boss says the zipper shot is best. Start at the botton and zip your way up. And in my workplace, there won’t be time for much more than 16 rounds. And nope, I am in no way thinking I could do as well as trained LEOs. They’re my back-up plan!
HOw long to get the kids out of my classroom (if in that situation)? At least a minute...gotta clear the glass off the sill before I start tossing them out.Actually, the kids would just be trained to not worry about the glass, just get out and RUN! That way, my eyes are on the door, not the kids. Having a few “leaders” designated to help with the ones who are too scared to help themselves. How’s that sound?
That's what I thought too, .30 M1 Carbine...

If the amendment about freedom of the press, all the liberal heads would explode and say you cannot do that, its our constitutional right. We don’t have a free press, we have a liberal press....I like that idea, them first. They would love to repress freedom of religion and self defense. In other words, of those freedoms theirs is the most useless to the citizens...
Commie,
I’ve read multiple essays on this subject in (formerly great) Conservative publications like National Review and the Wall Street Journal editorial page and Commentary Magazine.
A number of factors came together during one fairly brief time period.
The ACLU began demanding “rights” for the mentally ill, especially after Jack Nicholson won the Academy Award for “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.”
This made it much harder to involuntarily commit mentally ill people.
Also, psychiatric medication and diagnosis of potentially dangerous patients were alleged to be much more effective than they really were.
Thus, many people with serious mental disorders were released from institutions or moved to community group housing.
It also meant that chronic alcoholics and drug addicts were released in large numbers after undergoing therapy and being prescribed medication.
Also, although some medication can be very effective, trying to get unsupervised mentally ill people to take it on schedule and in the correct dose is very challenging, and often impossible.
The immediate result was an explosion of homeless mentally ill people and various kinds of addicts, mostly people who were too disabled or too intoxicated to work, and refused their medication, and refused to live in shelters.
Naturally, the Democrats and the MSM blamed Reagan and the Conservatives for the sudden surge in the homeless population.
In some ways the bogus self-created homeless issue is very much to blame for the “Heartless Republican” image we’ve had to endure for 30 years.

How many dickheads volunteered to leave?
Too many...
