Adam Lanza had lived with his mother in the 4,000-square-foot, $700,000 house. His parents were divorced in 2009.
He had two bedrooms that were clean and orderly when law officers swept into the house after the shootings Friday morning. Lanza apparently lived in one of the rooms and kept his computer gear and other items in the other one, the sources said. Law officers found evidence that Adam Lanza played graphically violent video games, the sources said.

There will always be people among us who are deranged enough to harm others. That’s a fact of life.
We need to be able to defend ourselves against these individuals, and a gun is the best tool we can have for this defense.

When there is something that gives an idea of the possible “motive,” we’d like to know it.

This will all be blamed on guns...you won’t hear much about violent video games. The msm only uses incidents like this as a club against the Right.
The article quotes a boy who said he sat next to Adam in homeroom when they were high school seniors. I heard on the news that his mother pulled him out of school when he was a sophomore and homeschooled him. I don’t remember a news story where the media got so much wrong.
Same as practically every other one in these type of events.
When is this going to be recognized?

Same thought here. That article title describes a lot of "bitter clingers". Confiscation and Re-education camps may be the most effective way to deal with the "problem". That, and long, deep ditches for the bodies to go in.

Sadly the old saying about the media — “if it bleeds, it leads” is so true. The media is rarely satisifed with merely reporting facts; rather it wants to dramatize every tradgedy and predictably find a quote, picture or theme to build the story on. Its a sick business in many respects.

Captian 7 Seas, needs to be giving a MEGAPHONE mic and speak to the world. I want to know what prescription medication he was taking, be it prozac or zoloff, like hundreds of other people who can’t face their reality. Prozac has been a factor in MANY of the massacres of late.
Right, ban the prescription meds to especially these young men unless it is chemical castration.
They tend to be hyper-sexual and hyper-frustrated since nothing goes the way their mind wants it to. I assure you they’ll not only find the violent games, but lots of porn that he spent all day jerking off to.
This guy is a mentally deficient and in nature when you are going to die quick there is a biological thing where they feel they have to get their seed to reproduce in the world before they die young. I think this is the case and if you don’t lock up these mental kids for life at the very least you need to castrate them in some way before they have their wacka-doodle go into hyper-drive.

So, I wonder how did he get to the guns, then? Earlier reports seemed to indicate that the rifle was left in the car. What’ s up with that?
Here is the likely scenario:
Nancy Lanza, who homeschooled her son at some point, never noticed any behavior issues. To her, his mom, he was just a brilliant yet shy child. When you are around something or someone continually, without the perspective of others, you tend to accept otherwise questionable behavior as normal. Who Adam was, and how he was socially, 'was just him'. If she knew of Apserger's or Autism, she likely tried to manage it herself. The fact that she took both her sons target shooting suggests she believed Adam was mentally sound. Add to this a struggling marriage than ended in divorce, and its likely many tall tale signs in Adam were missed or ignored under the guise of 'dealing with the divorce'.
I'm certainly not blaming Nancy. It seems as a single mom, she did the best she could, probably a bit embarrassed and ashamed from her divorce and other life issues, including her children. There are lots of social pressures, too, in many 'affluent suburbs'. I've witnessed it among friends who worry about the most asinine things. Nancy, too, seemingly became a social outcast at some point, choosing to sequester herself from a once group of friends. Yet, here are the questions that jump out at me:
1. If he was indeed homeschooled, had a form of Autism, and then went to a public school, who managed that transition? For a child with Autism to go from public, to homeschooled to public school again as a teen is incredibly hard.
2. If Adam was indeed a social outcast in high school, and identified as having a form of Autism, what did school officials do to help?
3. If Adam showed signs of odd behavior as early as elementary school, what was done then by school officials? Did they recommend testing? Medication? Special classes? Psychiatric help?
4. How often did the boys see their father? Did the father know of Adamn's issues and what did he do to help?
Adam was a ticking time bomb, one that went unnoticed by the public school system and by his family. By all accounts, he was a computer geek and heavily influenced by extremely violent video games- without any impactful parental involvement. Right now, the usual suspects are using this as another means to control guns. But as the days go by, what will become clear, here, is Adam was a horrific example of the systemic failure our public schools have become, as well as the lack of involved parenting.
