There were so many levels to President Obama's speech: philosophical, sorrowful determined universal, simple, beautiful...
People will long remember what Barack Obama said in Newtown...his Gettysburg address...

I’m pretty sure Lincoln wrote his own Gettysburg address. We have no idea who wrote Obama’s “Gettysburg Address”.
But I’m pretty sure it wasn’t Obama.

He was very passionate and articulate about his “feeling their pain” when he visited Hurricane Sandy victims, but that didn’t work out so well for them after the cameras were turned off.
Agreed. Fortunately, there's cable for me so I was able to switch over to CNBC to continue watching SNF.

Summary lines: “Are we prepared to say that such violence visited on our children year after year after year is somehow the price of our freedom? ... If there’s even one step we can take to save another child ... then surely we have an obligation to try.”
Of course, arming teachers won’t be considered, now matter how consistent it is with our Constitution, nor how effective when tried.
Long remember? Only insofar as it amounts to “let’s throw out our freedoms” and initiates civil war.
If Obama is really serious about controlling guns he would jail somebody from his administration who facilitated selling guns to drug cartels in Mexico. I’ve not seen that yet.

The media already reported that Obama was writing much of his own speech. This is a big setup. The target is the destruction of any remaining conservatives. They plan on the criminalization of gun owners. Of course, most of the gun murders take place in the “hood” but that will be conveniently glossed over.
Obama as a bigger and better Lincoln! He wins the uncivil war, routing the Tea Party and establishing a progressive union.
Even over on DU (!) some people are defending the right to bear arms.

Except for the part where he said he would use his “office” to make changes so this would not happen again and he would do it in 60 or 90 days (I don't remember which number of days it was).
That means good bye “assault” weapons and clips/magazines with many bullets. If sounds like he will do it through his “office” and not through “congress”. I expect an executive order to BATFE to write regulations to outlaw assault weapons and clips/magazines with over 10 bullets. Something like that.
Was Lincoln for abortion, or letting survivors of botched abortions die naked and alone?

I watched the first part of Obama’s speech then had to change the channel back to the football game. It was just a bit self-righteous drolling. I would like to commend the crowd on not acting like they were at a pep rally like the Tucson crowd was.
