‘What more do we require?’ to stop violence, Rev. Jackson asks
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | December 15, 2012 | JAMES SCALZITTI

Posted on 12/17/2012 9:45:57 AM PST by JustSayNoToNannies

Whether it be a mass casualty shooting at a school or other public space in the United States or the regularly occurring gun violence on the streets of Chicago, “the people who are civilized must care enough to stop it now,” the Rev. Jesse Jackson said on Saturday.

While speaking to the audience at the Rainbow-PUSH headquarters on the South Side, Jackson reflected on Friday’s shooting in Connecticut, as well as the ongoing violence on the streets of Chicago.

Noting that, “It’s easier (in the United States) to buy a gun than a cup of coffee,” Jackson said, “None of us are safe until all of us are safe. These military assault weapons have no place in society.”

“You don’t hunt with semi-automatic weapons,” Jackson said. “These are designed to kill people.”

Jackson wondered aloud how many more senseless acts of gun violence “do we require?” before something is done to stop such events from occurring again.“We are the most violent nation on earth,” he said. “We make the most guns and we shoot them, we make the most bullets and we fire them.”

Tying together the deaths of the children in Connecticut and all the young people who have died from gun violence in Chicago, Jackson said, “the people who are civilized must care enough to stop it now.”

He also mentioned the bill that passed the Michigan legislature on Thursday that would allow those with concealed carry permits to bring guns into schools, churches, and daycare centers. “We’re going to fight that,” Jackson said.

Indeed, “go Cosby” and denounce the modern, urban black culture. It is the source of more violence than anything else in our society.

I have never hunted nor have any intentions of ever hunting unless there is a breakdown and I need to hunt for food.

I don't even know how to hunt. I can get rounds on a target. A shotgun would be much better use for sustenance hunting, mostly birds ans small game. Not much big game around in my part of the country.

He’s trying to use the correct term and re-define it at the same time.

I had a brother in law that once used almost the same exact wording. I looked at him and said “what does ‘semi-automatic’ mean to you?”

Pause.

“I don’t know.” Honest at least. Didn’t change his mind when I explained it. He’s an elitist that believes a few people should control society.

Keltec PMR30, .22 magnum and holds 30. Not technically a .22 LR, the rounds are longer.

I’ve got an idea - maybe Chicago can ban guns and we’ll all get to see how well it works... Then we’ll know liberals are right.

HA

(Just kidding )

Chicago’s done that - and Chicago has one of the highest murder rates in the country. That truth won’t stop liberals. They’re famous for pushing ideas that have been proven over and over again NOT to work. Liberals don’t need no damn facts standing between them and failed ideas...

When I saw that a while back, I thought I’d found my next purchase... then after some research, it won’t shoot .22 LRs... bummer.

Not a word about gangsta culture and big rappers that make miilions off of the disgusting filth they put out in rap lyrics and videos. THEY are glorifying killing each other and even cops, all the while making a ton of money doing so.

Try looking inward just for once before launching into one of your rhyming frenzies, “Reverend”.

Nah, 22lr only. It would be nice if someone makes one that can shoot both. I think the .22 mag is not only longer but has a tapered case.

Jackson Sr needs to go thru the steps in Illinois to buy a gun and then come back and state again that it is easier than buying a cup of coffee.

Perhaps he only does HIS gun purchasing on the gang streets, without background checks, tho.

In Dem/Lib lingo, “Reverend” JJ is “out of touch.”

The point is that it’s “a high capacity semi-auto” and the Libs would hate it even if it looked innocuous and could barely harm a flea.

But, but, but, I thought all those Obama supporters were on food stamps and last I heard, you can't get a gun with food stamps ... oh, wait, maybe things are different in Chicago.

/s off ... sorta
