In Recent Years, a Drop in Public Support for Gun Control Laws
Tecaucus ^ | MARJORIE CONNELLY

Support for gun control measures has steadily dropped over the last decade, and previous mass shootings had little effect on public opinion about gun laws. It is too early to tell if the age and the number of the victims in the killings in Newtown, Conn., will now have an impact on attitudes toward gun control.

Just ask your local gun store how sales are. Way up.

Concealed carry has been passing in state after state. I think the people collectively are done with gun control. It’s only supported by the liberals. We’ll see if any republicans cave to the pressure but both the House and Senate are more conservative than they were even in the 90’s. Most of the old-guard moderates who bend with the winds are gone.

1. CT has some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation.

2. The Brady group even ranks them 3rd in the nation for restrictive gun control laws.

It is very important to point out that if it’s about gun control laws then the CT shootings prove what a total failure they are.

The vulture media started running polls the night of the Newtown massacre. They seem to show a quick drop in opposition to gun control.

The question is whether the numbers will bounce back or not.

There’s a concerted effort by the Dems to exploit this and shape public opinion. I am of the opinion that guys like Mark Warner and Joe Manchin were “sleepers” on gun control: presenting the appearance of being pro gun rights but ready at a moments notice ( and the right event ) to flip their stances and do so in a way to draw public opinion along with them.

In Michigan, Rick Snyder has a bill sitting on his desk right now that would allow guns on school grounds.

I agree with you in many ways.

The Dems think that the single and narrow election of Obama was a Waterloo while ignoring that they got trounced in the House elections.

They will go too far. Time to make your calls and write those letters.

Gun control bigots and tyrants will never, ever, go away.

People don’t want the government to ROB THEM of their ability to defend themselves and their family and there are MANY liberals in this group! I know an avid 0bama supporter who’s proud of her .38, so much so that she sleeps with it under her pillow.

The democrats got trounced even worse in the states. Something like 24 are totally in GOP hands while 13 are under democrat control.

“FAST AND FURIOUS” was a deliberate attempt by the DEMORATS as they staged and created it to decimate the support for the 2nd Amendment and that is why they are circling their wagons about the Lies and Fraud they perpetrated on the American Public! When the Truth comes out, there is not one major or minor Demorat Leader who must face Life in Prison without Parole! Actually, each should be sentenced to Death by a Firing Squad for Major Treason!

It’s real simple.

I wish the teachers in those rooms where the evil maniac struck had been trained and armed as a requirement for possessing a teacher license.

And I wish each teacher in the school building was similarly trained and armed.

That is how to protect the children.

You know, that is closer to the truth than many are willing to express.

The American people are WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too stupid, unimaginably stupid (just look at NOV and NOV 4 years ago), to be opposed to gun control for very long.

****Support for gun control measures has steadily dropped over the last decade,****

Nonsense. It hit a brick wall called 9-11-2001. Up until then gun control was on a roll! When the World Trade Centers were destroyed, people suddenly woke up to the fact they just might need a military style rifle after all!

Hmmmm.....recent years, uh......recent years, lets see uh.....what has been going on in recent years. Oh yea!! The nation is in a WAR ON TERROR, or something kinda like that right? You know, “terror” as in “terror-ist”. Those silly guys that tend to purposefully TARGET CIVILIANS for murder!

The school massacres only serve to exemplify why all citizens need to be armed, and most people are able to see that.

It needs to go beyond the “allow” idea and into require.

Teachers should have to qualify at a range before being allowed to teach. The safety of the kids cannot be ensured by any other means.

I think you’re reading something wrong. 9/11 was indeed about ten years ago.

Remember that obamacare was unpopular with the general public too, by a large margin and was rammed down our throats by a democrat house, senate and president. Public be damn’d and the same general, public reelected the same bunch anyway.
