Don't blame Quentin Tarantino for Friday's tragic Newtown, Conn., shooting.
The Django Unchained director is tired of having to defend his use of violence in film.
"I just think, you know, there's violence in the world, tragedies happen, blame the playmakers," he said Saturday at a press junket, per the BBC. "It's a Western. Give me a break."

Hope Tarentino doesn’t get caught on Florence and Normandy at the wrong time. I think those are the right street names.
Agreed. One interesting thing that was recently pointed out to me.
The media types will scream all day long that television doesn't affect people one way or another, but that's not what they tell their advertisers is it?
Re #17, Looks like a typical Friday night in Chicago, E. St. Louis, Philadelphia, Detroit and DC.
Nothing special, move on.
$100,000 per shot up to 10, $250,000 from 10-25, $500,000 per shot over 25. (Progressive tax, you know)
Could construct a similar schedule for stabbings, curse words, punches, sexual acts and kicks. The tax would be used to fund armed guards in schools.
I’ve seen John Wayne and Gary Cooper in Westerns. They aren’t glorifying violence. The are reluctantly using their guns to stop violence. Every Tarantino movie I have seen seems to be a masturbatory exercise in spilling blood for the sake of spilling blood. Sanguineous onanaism and nothing more.
It won’t for us, that is for damn sure.
Well, that’s a bit self-serving, wouldn’t you say, Quinten?
Michael Savage has a picture of himself with school mates when he was was part of his highschool rifle team. All the young boys are pictured with their guns. They took their guns to school and they didn’t go beserk and kill anybody. And this was in New York City!
Americans, as an aggregate of 300,000,000 individuals, watched a total of SIXTEEN MILLION MILLION hours of TV last year.
There is no correlation with mass murder.
“So, should Hollywood only make PG family-friendly movies? “
No, but a parent or anyone else allowing a kid to watch it should be charged with child endangerment. Same as if you provide your kids with tobacco or booze...
He is correct of course, it’s not about games or movies. There’s no correlation. There’s also no correlation with gun laws.
They are both equally plausible targets and both bad ones. But of course since he’s vested in movies, he’ll defend them. And I bet he owns a crapload of weapons too.
I'm totally with you. I just checked; in World of Warcraft, I have over half a million kills under my belt. Nearly 250,000 of them were other players. Sometimes I like to watch violent movies. Yet I feel absolutely no desire to go shooting up people.
One could argue that perhaps violent people are drawn to violent forms of entertainment. But even that argument has flaws; there is no way to predict who might be a violent person from the movies one likes.
Like you, I think the answer lies in the mental health system. Putting mentally ill people out on the streets instead of institutions is a failure; hundreds of thousands of homeless and the occasional violent criminal are enough evidence of that. We need better screening and treatment.
Yea, his new black racist “KILL WHITY” anti-American kill fest film is all the rage, ...gotta protect his profits. Besides they are only killing all those BAD WHITE people.
Don’t worry, they are just WHITE people.
Just more dead WHITE people being brutally beaten by angry black men getting their Obama “revenge”.
....it would not surprise me if they get tax payer cash to stay on the farm.
When I was in Junior High I was a member of the California Cadet Corps and we practiced marksmanship on the school tennis courts and at the Boys and Girls Club firing .22 caliber rifles into bullet traps. We also carried and drilled with plugged ‘03 Springfield rifles, try doing that in today’s screwed up USA!
The only scene that gave me the heebie jeebies (is that racist?) in his movie “Inglorious Bastards” was when the guy used the Louisville Slugger on the German Officer.
Same with the scene in The Untouchables where Al Capone made a blunt point at a meeting with his guys using a Baseball Bat, shivers...
Of course, The Wild Bunch is still a favorite, just like The Outlaw Josie Wales. Didn’t make me want to get a Gattling Gun and kill the Mexicans and the Yankees though.
Oops, >”Didnt make me want to get a Gattling Gun and kill the Mexicans and the Yankees though”<
No, not the New York Yankees, well maybe.
REVISED: Didnt make me want to get a Gattling Gun and kill Mexicans Soldiers and Yankee Bluebellies though.
MEXICAN Soldiers!
I give up...
