This article is bunk.

Back when the AR-15 first went on the market only certain gun stores had them and they weren’t selling.

No one wanted them ($200.00) as you could still get a heavy caliber m98 Mauser or a .303 Enfield for $15 dollars for deer hunting.

No one wanted a small caliber .223 as they cost too much. A bolt action .222 Remington or Rem mag was much cheaper.

I am about the only one who appreciated the AR-15 back in 1970.

Then Guns and Ammo mag had Mel Tappan write a series of articles on survivalism and he recommended the AR. Soon anything that fired the .223 became popular.

I bought one of the first Ruger Mini-14s on the market. Eventually I had to sell them to keep from starving but Mel Tappan started the SURVIVALISM craze and love for the AR and other assault rifles.

Please note, the name “assault rifle” was used by marketing firms long before the anti-gunners latched onto the name. I have the G&A magazines to prove it.

Woops,I forgot to add, I saw and bought my first AR in Tulsa OK back in 1970.

The first one I saw at Walmart was in 1985. Then Walmart quit selling handguns and AR style rifles due to anti-gun pressure.

They began to sell ARs again a couple of years ago.

but I can just see the police hauling me off for shooting a “gun” in MY YARD!

It's wise to check local laws. Many jurisdictions do in fact treat airguns, even airsoft guns, as firearms and will arrest you for "discharging within city limits" or some such offense accordingly.

“...Correct me if I’m wrong, but was not the rifle left in the car? I thought he used only the pistols in his assault on the school children....”

No worries, the MSM will be investigating this discrepancy soon. (sound of crickets) Remember when there were actual “investigative journalists”?

You appear to be suggesting our government which is run in total directly, or influentially by the Socialist, Leftist Democrat party colluded to have person(s) identified, and unidentified kill children as collateral damage in their efforts to undermine the second amendment of our constitition for the purpose of setting up a purpose for confiscation of private citizens legally owned guns.

Same thought occured to me.

The shotgun was left in the car. The rifle was used to shoot others inside the school, the 10 mm Glock was used to shoot himself. The 9 mm Sig he carried but did not appear to use.

From the Fox News article thackney has posted the link:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/12/16/at-least-26-dead-in-shooting-at-connecticut-school/

“......He then drove to the school in her car with four guns, including a shotgun that was left in the back of the vehicle, and shot up two classrooms around 9:30 a.m., police say. Police added that multiple 30-round magazines and hundreds of bullets were also found at the scene.”

“The rifle used was a Bushmaster .223-caliber, according to an official with knowledge of the investigation who was not authorized to speak about it and talked on condition of anonymity. The gun is commonly seen at competitions and was the type used in the 2002 sniper killings in the Washington, D.C., area. Also found in the school were two handguns, a Glock 10 mm and a Sig Sauer 9 mm.”

Thank you for the link thackney. Clears up the confusion. It was a shotgun left in the car NOT the .223 rifle.

Thank you all for the information.

The liberals really need to get some weapon education.

Once again they base their feelings on ideology instead of hard facts. Idiots.

I can’t even buy BBs at Walmart here in New Hampshire.

Try Concord on Loudon Road.

They have everything.

There was an incredible amount of conflicting information reported early on. I suggest when looking for detailed info, limit the reports to those after this past weekend.

The Concord NH Wal-Mart has at least 3 different AR-15s including the Colt LE model (sometimes more), and many shotguns including pump and semi-autos.

Call before you go, the staff does not know about the supply chain - a truck comes at 11am and they put out what's on the truck.

They also have good deals on .223.

Check them out.

No, not Bush’s fault.

The rifle was a BushMASTER. And every good moonbat knows the real Bush MASTER was Dick Cheney.

So it’s Dick Cheney’s fault.
