Police find no evidence Connecticut gunman was on medication
foxnews.com ^ | December 18, 2012

While Newtown buried two more young victims Tuesday in the shooting massacre, authorities said they found no evidence the gunman who killed 27 people was being medicated for mental illness.

Investigators searching the Connecticut home gunman Adam Lanza shared with his mother, Nancy Lanza, seized cellphones, computers and computer games, but found nothing at the residence to indicate he was taking medication, Hearst Connecticut Newspapers reported.

Authorities armed with search warrants are still working to obtain the 20-year-old man's medical records, according to the report. Lanza's parents told friends and divorce mediators that their son had Asperger's syndrome, a form of high-functioning autism, but it was unclear if he had ever been formally diagnosed.

>>Your claim that the Fanapt report is bogus is based on what?

From watching it get pulled from two news outlets.

I have a complete web page of one of them stored on the machine upstairs. URL is now dead. The other one, that I didn’t save, updated their article and completely dropped the section where Fanapt use was asserted by some bozo claiming to be “uncle Jonathan Lanza”.

Here is another dead link that at one time referenced this scammer:

http://www.rep-am.com/articles/2012/12/16/news/local/doc50ce2ee9ab4f8441433667.txt

Note that there is nothing there, it is a dead link.

Also, in one of the threads where we were discussing this someone posted a link to a forum where they had this scammer’s name and discussion of the Fanapt claim. You can probably find the thread and read up if you dig in my recent posts a little.

Ultimately, it is really up to you to provide a credible primary source for the claim, and not for me to prove a negative. That’s how basic argumentation logic works.

"Possibly his mother discussed with Adam that she thought it was time for him to get on with his life, get a job and that she had discussed this with the adults at the school.

Now he is in a RAGE knowing that she discussed HIM with the outside world."

Reportedly, he was involved in an "altercation" either on the Wednesday or Thursday before.

Anyone hear of an "altercation"?

"Then why do the drug ads warn about suicidal thoughts can be a side effect of these psychotrophic drugs?"

In clinical trials, if even one person out of 2,000, has any side effect, the pharmacy will list that as a possible side effect.

If one person out of 2,000 has a rash during the trials, rash will be listed as a possible side effect.

the original poster asserted that drugs could NEVER cause someone to be a killer.

As far as I know, there has never been a drug made that will turn people into killers. Only seething rage and hatred could cause the premeditated slaughter of six and seven year old children in a school classroom.

It was only reported or rumored here on FR, nothing conclusive on that, that I know of.

Just today on the news it was stated that, someone who knew him said something to the effect that Adam knew that his mother was looking into having him committed. Hearsay?

All we have is rumors and speculations at this point. I think we will know more when we hear from the Father & brother.

Drugs that alter brain chemistry, like SSRIs do not by themselves turn a person into a killer, they can remove inhibitions (like alcohol) that normally prevent people acting upon extreme emotions.

You just mentioned a couple things, rage and hatred, that are extremely potent emotions that are normally held in check in most people. Now remove the inhibition on acting upon those emotions via a drug that is actually designed to do that (for different reasons, usually involving depression)

So, you can insist that drugs cannot turn a person into a killer if you wish, but it’s fairly easy to do google searches for drugs that have done what I just wrote above. They exist and people are on them.

I didn't ask you to disprove my claim.

You made a whole new claim, that the guy in the report was a scammer and that the report was bogus. It was that "positive" that I asked you prove.

That's "basic argument logic".

Originally you and others here asserted AL was using Fanapt. You have no credible primary source for this. That’s where this starts.

And futher, here’s the thread on the other forum that talks about uncle JL (Jonathan Lanza) being some scammer they are familiar with:

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8646646

And, again, I have a saved off web page from the UK Sun that has a picture of this guy and his statement that AL was on schizophrenia meds. That page is now history, gone, kaput, they pulled their bogus report using this guy. Another U.S. site did the same, they “updated” their report to yank all information sourced from uncle JL. I watched that happen over the course of few hours, didn’t save a copy.

Also, see libertarian27’s post #45 here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2969416/posts?page=45#45

There is further discussion in that thread, but you should get the idea by now.

Look, the reporting on this thing has been a fecal exhibition by everyone from the tabloids to ABC/NBC/CBS/etc. Heck, CBS led off 60 Minutes on Sunday by owning up to a whole bunch of false stuff they had reported early on. Until I see a new credible primary source for AL using psych meds, that is nothing more than speculation at this point by me, and it should be for you as well.

....Look, the reporting on this thing has been a fecal exhibition...

Sure has!
I was talking to a retired cop tonight who 'talked' to a CT state cop that saw autopsy reports (quote-unquote) that the shootings were done with the 9mm and not with a rifle at all....
And we have Øbama wanting to ban rifles.
Not that any autopsy findings can be verified yet either...the stories still keep churning.

And futher, here’s the thread on the other forum that talks about uncle JL (Jonathan Lanza) being some scammer they are familiar with:

There's "talk" on a "forum" about the uncle being a scammer and you immediately believe that without any collaborating evidence. I'll ask you a second time, what hard evidence do you have that the Uncle is a scammer?? What ever happened to your standard of only believing things that come from a "credible primary source "?

And, again, I have a saved off web page from the UK Sun that has a picture of this guy and his statement that AL was on schizophrenia meds. So then just because something is scrubbed it means that the report is false?

Never mind that their are privacy issues involved, drug company lawyers scouring the net, and gun grabbers looking to blame this all on guns. You have no real idea why the quotes were scrubbed.

This is Jonathan Lee Riches

This is the only pic on the net of purported “Uncle Jonathan Lanza”

He was outed as not being the Uncle' by people who apparently know him and his MO
All articles 'speaking' about the Uncle - who is the only one right now that talked about Meds - have been scrubbed after the 'outing'

I'll ask a third time. Document this so-called scammer outing by "people who apparently know him".

Some medications promote suicidal thoughts.
And sometimes misery loves company.

Some medications promote suicidal thoughts.

There is an immense difference between suicidal thoughts and premeditated mass murder of 6 and 7 year old children.

You've only asked me once but I can't prove the 'hard' evidence because all referenced articles have been scrubbed...any articles being generated now are the churnings of reports of the scrubbed articles...one just posted up screen.

It can't be verified.
This whole tragedy is being churned.
If a verified and legitimate Uncle materializes - we'll know about it...or not.
Right now it's MSM crashing against bloggers and message boards - who's right?

We need Lanza’s medical records. That would clarify things.

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.

He’s very distinctly ignoring my repeated challenge for a credible primary source on this. No wonder we’re in trouble when even FReepers don’t “get” that this is basic to establishing a claim something occurred, and that ultimately we cannot prove a negative.

You're a coward. You talk about a poster without pinging the poster.

What part of my comment --->"We need Lanza’s medical records. That would clarify things" are you too slow to understand?

Meh. Get over yourself, we were talking among ourselves. And learn what rules of logic and evidence look like.

I told you this psych meds assertions was lacking a primary source from the beginning. You ignored it until your nose was rubbed in all sorts of backing facts and links, and you still ignored the fundamentals for a while, that a credible primary source was needed. For you to come back with “We need Lanza’s medical records. That would clarify things” late in the game, is lame. That would BE the primary credible source for psych meds use that I told you was needed from the very beginning.

I’m out.
