Gov. Christie: Americans need to have a 'national discussion' about gun control

TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie said tonight that gun control is one of several issues that must be examined to prevent tragedies like Friday’s school shooting in Connecticut.

On New Jersey 101.5 FM’s "Ask the Governor," Christie said Americans should engage in a "national discussion" about gun control, as well as the stigma associated with mental health treatment and violence in the media.

"What role does the media play in terms of the violence we see on television and the movies? And the violent video games that I think desensitize our children to the real effects of violence. So I think we have to have a national discussion," the governor said.

When asked whether gun control was an issue as well, Christie said, "Gun control absolutely has to be part of that discussion too."

Christie said New Jersey has the second-toughest gun laws in the nation, behind New York. "I’ve been a supporter of that as governor and will continue to be," he said.

Northeastern gungrabbing liberals are worthless, especially if they have an R next to their name. Commie Christie’s opinion is worth his weight in dung.

The anticonstitutionalists are selling off their gun company stocks, it’s time for 2nd Amendment supporters to start buying stock in gun manufacturers and stores that sell guns. Vote with your stocks.

We should start referring to the gun grabbers as the anti-constitutionalists. Use every word like it is your last bullet.

I agree with Gov. Christie, that America must have a discussion about gun rights.

If the Founders were comfortable with private citizens owning crew served weapons (cannon) and war ships, good enough for Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Madison,Daniel Webster, Tench Coxe, etc. is good enough for America today.

After all, who understood Man and government better, the above mentioned Founders or Commies like Saul Alinsky and his acolytes Obama, The HillaBeast, ad nauseam?

I am amazed that so many so called intelligent "Freepers" resort to ridiculing Christie , not for his stance on a subject, but for his weight...That my friends is PATHETIC if you have nothing intelligent to say....silence is golden

I think we've reached a point where many Freepers are tired of responding to absurd politicians with intelligent responses.

The pols are so far gone, and Freepers are so frustrated.

Yes, Christie! Good for you! Stand for your principals! And stand on the sideline and kiss your dreams of 2016 good-bye!

What “Americans” really need to do is have a “national conversation” about the Bill of Right and see if any of them have a clue about how the Bill or Rights is supposed to work.

I’m all for having everyone discuss all the issues ad infinitum. The longer we discuss matters such as gun control (as in stance and sight picture) the better off we’ll be.

Give it time for the emotions to fade and stop propelling these f-——g weenie politicians towards selling out the Constitution.

A conversation implies a two way dialectic. The left isn’t interested in that. They’re intetested in scoring their touchdown and doing an endzone dance. oh, you’re a fat bastard too btw.

First thing I thought was that he should concentrate on a discussion of his diet.It is so simple, more guns equal less crime. Concealed carry for all, when the criminals don’t know whose packin crime goes down.
