Lawmakers in Moscow moved to ban Americans from adopting Russian children Friday, as they passed a bill that imposes a series of sanctions on U.S. interests, state media reported.

Russia is one of the top sources of international adoptions to the United States.

The State Duma, Russia's lower house of parliament, adopted the bill on its third reading, the state-run RAPSI news agency reported.

The measure will now move to the Federation Council and, if approved there, will go to President Vladimir Putin to be signed into law, the news agency said.

The legislation could affect hundreds of American families seeking to adopt Russian children.

> I agreed with everything you wrote until the last claim
> that Russians have a moral revulsion against abortions.
> Not true.

I do know that in some Russian medical schools, physicians are required to perform an abortion in order to complete their studies.

I was repeating one Russian’s opinion. He is Russian Orthodox.

However, I maintain that American politicians as a whole have a lower moral standard than the average Russian street whore.

Join FRUA and meet the thousands of families who have adopted, hear the real stories. You are wildly generalizing and spewing misinformation. I suppose you can do the same abou any adoptions, such as those here in the US

Countries that do illegal adoptions such as Guatemala, Rumania and Cambodia have been closed to US adoptions by US authorities

BTW, I truly doubt that you are praying for my kids, you remind me of those busybodies who walked up to my friend with her Chinese child and asked how much they paid for her

buh bye

Probably for the best. Many of those potential adoptees have proven themselves sociopathic.

Ain't that the truth! I remember the story about one Russian boy who tried to burn down his adoptive parents' home.

Why anyone would want to adopt from a population of kids who may not be psychologically stable is beyond me. I also don't understand is why anyone would want to adopt anyone and incur all those huge financial costs.

Sometimes the truth hurts. I don’t mean you any ill will, yet you are very offended. That is about you- not me.

By the way- If your children know God and you are raising them in a Christian home, it won’t make or break the deal whether I pray for them or not (thought I mean them no ill will either) , so I am not sure what that statement about me praying for your children is about.

The foreign adoption business is corrupt in many places, people who are looking to adopt should care about that, because they would not want to be a part of that system.

However, some Americans have a savior complex, and throw a lot of money around and help create corrupt systems for other countries to deal with.

Some adoptions are God sent- of course. Adoption is not the problem, greed and selfishness are the problems.

Russia has been sending warning signs for a while now, that they do not want Americans coming over there and doing business with the corrupt systems..that they have to police and rectify.

If you don’t know about the wild corruption, with all the experience you say you have, then you are just trying to be ignorant of it.

Makes sense to me and rest comfortably with the experiences I have seen.

The bill is complete garbage. They’re throwing away the kids they don’t abort. Americans, the most hated people on Earth, beside Jews, are making something out of these people they consider worthless. It’s embarrassing, proves the superiority of our value system, so they want to stop it.

You’re right though, this could only happen under weak American leadership.

This has nothing to do with demographics, and everything to do with revenge. We have Russian kids in our family who were not adopted, rescued from Russia where they were raped, neglected, and otherwise abused. After my sister paid the judge off with the obligatory American liquor and American cash they demand, he asked my sister, “You have plenty of children. Why do you want these broken children?”

Putin is a bad man. The orphans there are treated worse than what they would be if adopted. Russia has a 50+% abortion rate, what makes you think they give a rip about a few “broken” orphans?

The 50,000 needed to adopt kids is a testament to corruption in Russia, not to some nefarious plot of “mega-churches.” “Preying on them.” If every child in Russia was adopted by lesbian pedophiles, it wouldn’t be much worse than what many Russians do to their own children, let alone orphans. However, a huge majority of Russians are adopted by VERY generous people. They need to be, considering how messed up these kids are.

I’m thankful my nieces made it to America. Many other kids will now suffer from that KGB thug’s temper tantrum.

If they did, it’d be another dose of leftist misinformation, because demographics has nothing to do with it. Spite has everything to do with it.

Except Russians do commit infanticide at a rate much higher than Americans. 73 per 100 births. I guess they don’t have enough women having the moral stature of a whore.

LOL. You have no idea what you’re talking about. The orphans in Russia are treated worse than we treat our prisoners. It’s not about giving them x-boxes.

I guess that means you probably shouldn’t adopted any of those kids. I’m glad there are people who don’t think like you do. I don’t think Putin, or any of those pols in Russian plan on adopting any of those kids either, nor will they do doing anything to make their lives better. They all think like you do. To the rest of the families who are going through great sacrifice to help an orphan in Russia, “Tough luck. We’d rather hide our trash in institutions rather than see our values discredited.”

I didnt read about the children you adopted?

Surely someone with your sense of morality and concern has adopted. All the huff and puff doesnt make the world a better place. Walking the walk makes the world a better place. aka know as “the saviour complex”?

Or maybe you sponsor some children in their home orphanages, as we also do?

Enlighten us.

The fact that you have no creds (prove me wrong) but seek to presume and lecture people who adopt is offensive

Do a little more research. The system is corrupt, children are stolen and manipulated from their parents- many of them are adopted out to US because they suffer fetal alcohol syndrome. For whatever reason Obama signs something putting pressure on the corrupt system, in the name of Human rights.. Putin responds by closing Americans out, and making the rightful point that Americans have no place to talk about HIS corrupt system- when we are also corrupt (and he is actually right- because our non-profits and churches DO know the adoptions are not always ethical, but they are all making bunches of money).

They are both corrupt politicians - and they both know they system is hugely corrupt.

It really is a human trafficking problem.. and it really is a Human Rights problem- but these two politicians are playing games with each other, in a power play.

The people at various local government levels and the citizens have legit concerns.

It is bizarre twist- the two power players are actually diffusing a corrupt system.

Go figure- but God moves in mysterious ways.

I don’t know why it bothers me so much when people are wrong, but think they’re so right. It’s probably an issue with pride. US adoption of Russian kids is not defined by corruptions and not covertly or overtly an act of human trafficking. It’s a huge blessing to many people.

My sister lived it, I watched the whole process. I didn’t just read some article or except the propaganda of some Russophile.

“While conditions in orphanages may be deplorable; placing children in culturally & genetically incompatible situations can be even more deplorable.”

I have personally seen otherwise. My brother-in-law’s brother adapted a 4-year-old girl from a horrible orphanage in Rumania. She had been isolated there, was socially withdrawn, and could barely speak. For years, she seemed “diferent”. Today she is grown up and serving overseas in the US military! She is also a Bible-carrying, gun-fanatic Conservative and possibly more gung-ho American than her adaptive family.

Not from what I’ve seen first hand. Friends have an adopted child from there and he is an incredible kid. Now 7 years old and awesome in every way. His parents have rubbed off on him very well.

It depends on how old the child is, when they are adopted. The ones Russia is offloading, who are psychopathic, have sat in orphanages, with little human contact, right up until they get adopted. A child is in most need of human contact up until about 18 months. If they don’t get that, it messes them up good.

It’s not a deficiency of the Russian character, because anybody denied the human touch, for long periods, tends to, be surly.

I don’t think he cares, but I do think he wants to hold onto as much of the Russian population as he can. Doesn’t make much sense, but then, I think Putin is a little loony.
