County Republican Executive Committe Elections

Last night my local County Republican Executive Committee held elections for officers. The two term chairman (GOP-E in my opinion) who ran on his ability to raise funds was denied and replaced by a (TEA orientated) member who worked tirelessly to build the membership and get out the vote. I'm energized and am going to step up and help out any way I can. Any changes in your local leadership?

I can’t stress enough how important it is for tea partiers to get to their state conventions and replace the leadership.

We can have an enormous effect on the policy making structure with just a few hundred votes.

If you mean the County Chairman, Texas elects those at the primary election.

Fighting back starts local! Homegrown to Washington. it will take time, but most things worthwhile do!

Here in Florida the county Chair is elected every two years by the precinct captains (who are elected every 4 years).

Wow, that is different. In Texas, Republicans running for county chair are on the primary ballot, so all Republicans who vote, select the person they want. My husband was the county chair for 10 years, then his health tanked and he had to give it up. To him, it was a religious callling.

None good. The GOPe is being challenged but by dhimmicrats and Paulians.

I should clarify, the State party has a constitution that counties can adopt ( I assume most do) but it could be different in other counties. Ironically the interpretation of the rules fueled this election. The body went with what was written ;0)!

Hey Tomato. I am in Michigan and we had some problems with our county chair here and I am running a campaign to displace him later next month. What state are you in? Is there a video of what happened at your gathering? I am meeting with some of the heavy hitters in my county next week who are past chairmen and heavy contributors. I am bringing a message to them of inclusiveness to not exclude conservative views and opening up beyond the core party view. We have been stagnant in fund raising for the last 6 years.

We need fresh blood and need to involve people beyond the exec committee who just keeps things to themselves. I am bringing a message for elected officials to have themselves or their helpers to be at every meeting without exception. We have been lazy as a party IMHO and I am very interested in feedback from what happened at your county convention.

Connecticut has some good news. At least three RTC chairs have gone tea party. More are in the works. Don’t want to talk about the rest, but things are methodically changing for the better here. Tangible results will still take time, but work has begun in this most difficult of blue states.

You are so spot on CC. However, here in Florida it starts on the County level. We elect two State Reps ( male and female). In my county your talking about 30 votes to win. When you look at Red and Blue States and break it down by counties, you can understand why the republicans controll the House. We have the power, we just need to elect like minded people! The House is our strength, we just need to elect individuals that are likeminded and will fight for our views!

You are correct, the only way our problems can be corrected is to begin at the local level. I have been involved in my Couunty Republican Party for over 10 years, I have served as County second vice chair and first vice chair. Two years ago I had a great deal of pressure applied to run for county chairman, I refused for several reasons, mainly because I could not take the time required away from my business.

The young man who stepped up, and was elected chairman has been a real blessing, he devoted many hours to stopping voter fraud, not much had been done about it in the past, he is completely focused on fixing things at the local level. It appears that he will run for another 2 year term, if he does he will have my full support. I will consider running for second vice chair agin if he does.

When the Local Tea Party was formed, I got involved, several of us began educating members how things worked inside the party, we now have a number of Tea Party Members Who are eledted precinct committeemen.

Hey MB, I’m in FL., and no video. my advice to you is to look at your Republican State party Constitution. learn it and see if your county has adopted it, and are they following it! Second, do you have a local Tea Party organization. Many of the Tea party are dissatisfied voters ( Democrat, republican, and independent)who might be interested in “re-branding” the existing Republican party. I don’t see the need to reinvent the wheel, just get it back on the track with a new engine. In my county, we were surprised that many precincts had no captains, people who could vote on their leadership. Fill those positions and your on your way. Share these results with other counties and you will take bake the leadership of the party in your state!

Here in King County (Seattle area), Washington State, we held our county convention last weekend, and had many great speeches about the need for new leadership, fresh ideas, etc., etc., and what did the majority vote for? The same old losers who allow no input from the grassroots, and rule from the top down (dictatorially), and just managed to lose just about every race at every level.

The Tea Party is full of energy, has brought in many fresh faces and people eager to get involved and work. They're holding big meetings every month with interesting speakers, and doing a good job of educating newbies on the many issues, and how to fight the many evils. I've been a Republican PCO for decades, but frankly I'm ready to jump ship and join the Tea Party.

Could not have said it better myself. My work also held me back. Here in Fl. we have a lot of retired folk that have the time to make it right. Many of them just need encouragement and support. They may be older, but when a younger person backs them up, oh do they glow!

Hey Holyscroller, thanks for your reply. You can’y give up (you know that), learn your Constitution, tell your local Tea Party, educate them! Our local tea Party our great educator's. They learn the system and inform their members. It's preached to many, but all it takes is one to step forward, with a few to back them. Our County Commission has one night meeting each month (pushed for by the local Tea party and backed by one commissioner) and it just happens to be the same night the tea party meets. Guess wha, they meet at the commissioners meeting! Showing up is 50% of the fight, your word is the other half!
