If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopatha wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the heros path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.
I believe the second half of the essay, about sheep dogs and those who defend the defenseless, is especially applicable right about now.
Whoops. Rookie mistake.
That is an excerpt above. Please chase the link for the whole essay!
Am quite frustrated in any attmpt to find a decent bio of Bill Whittle.
Ugh.
Who Is he and where did he come from?
Excellent.
One of my all-time favorites too. Props for bringing it to the attention of more/new readers.
I’ve thought about this and used to consider myself a sheepdog. Then it dawned on me that sheepdogs work for the shepherd. What does the shepherd do with the sheep when they are no longer giving wool? Or when he gets hungry?
