I stand by my belief that local governments should pay bounties (doesn't have to be much) for anyone righteously killed while trespassing or invading a home.

Government should send two messages:

Unjustified killings are murder -- if you kill the postman, you will be in trouble.
Justified killing is condoned and rewarded by the state. Home invader? Kill him with impunity. Trials are messy and expensive.

The state should support the right to self-defense and property protection. If you are a bad guy, you are taking serious risks, and the government is on the side of the people you are trying to victimize.

Police said three men entered the home through a garage and struggled with the homeowner. Investigators said Davis was stabbed and the homeowner pushed him out of the front door, where neighbors saw the body on the porch and called 911 while the homeowner and his wife fled for their own safety.

The other two men fled and remain at large. Police said no charges have been filed against the homeowner.

Isn’t three a bit young to break into homes?

I am in favor of this, but not a payment by government, as they are both fickle and chintzy. If instead there is a private fund to reward such people, it will likely be both far more honorable and generous.

I would like such a reward to be ‘pro rata’, based on the nature of the offense, the record of the offender, the risk to the citizen and their family, friends and other innocents, and, as with gymnastics, “degree of difficulty”.

Importantly, it would be best for all involved if such a private fund was very discreet in issuing its reward in cash, not publicizing it, and strongly suggesting that the recipient accept their reward in silence for their own benefit.

...unless the person was three-in-one. But then wouldn’t all three be dead? How could you tell?

Your points are good. But I was trying to get government “on the record” to give someone a small amount ($500?) as official recognition that no law was broken, no prosecution would be forthcoming. Government sees what you did, and is officially glad about the action you took.

One star out of a possible 3. Attackers and home invaders lose all their rights the moment they attack an innocent person anywhere. The innocent person has the right and the obligation to repulse the attacker, including using deadly force if necessary. This right was not given to us by the government, and the government does not have the right to take it away.

Ya know why the left disagrees with me on this?
cuz the left wants the “downtrodden underclass oppressed minority whatever” to just waltz right in and take what is “rightfully” theirs.

I see a new product on the horizon.
window decals in the form of a target silhouette
to paste in the front window of the home depicting successful
Implementation of home defense.

If you kill an assailant/home invader, you should get to claim their stuff. If they have a car, jewelry, whatever it should become yours.
