How sad. Prayers for his loved ones.
Having worked in a large hospital’s ER for 20 years...many of the shifts having been midnight to 8AM...I can attest to the fact that nothing good *ever* happens at 1AM...or 2AM...or 3AM for that matter.
Sounds like a horrific accident. So sorry for his family and this type of blow is especially hard during the holidays. Very, very sad.
Last Friday was the 25th anniversary of my 18 year old niece's death in a drunk driver crash.*She* was completely sober...the filthbag who swerved into her land was very drunk and had a long history of drunk driving arrests.Christmas hasn't been the same for my sister since.Actually,it's lost much of its luster for all of us.She was a fine, fine kid.
Prayers for your family, GSC! This type of trauma does affect a family and for many, many years. It taints it with horrible memories. I lost my Dad on New Year’s Eve and since then.. I’ve never been to a New Years party and I don’t really celebrate it as joyous. I celebrate it as a holiday to remember him. Granted, your niece wouldn’t have wanted her family to grieve her and not have fun/joy at Christmas but the robbing of her young life is such a tragedy. It is apparent she was truly loved and is missed horribly.
IIRC, Scott LA is near Lafayette so it is a long way from the state line. There are some dark narrow roads there once you get off the interstate so I can see how this happened.
Wonder if that was the same highway my cousin at the tender age of 18 was killed by a dunk driver?
RIP.
