What Piers Morgan doesn’t want you to know about Britain and violent crime (US has low crime rate)
the Right scoop ^ | December 21, 2012

Posted on 12/23/2012 8:11:08 AM PST by Hojczyk

National Review posted this yesterday and this is perhaps why Piers Morgan gets all interrupty when someone tries to explain how bad violent crime is in Great Britain:

According to the Mail, Britons suffer 1,158,957 violent crimes per year, which works out at 2,034 per 100,000 residents. By contrast the number in notoriously violent South Africa is 1,609 per 100,000.

The U.S., meanwhile, has a rate of 466 crimes per 100,000 residents, which is lower than France’s, at 504; Finland’s, at 738; Sweden’s, at 1123; and Canada’s at 935.

As a result of both the different ways in which these statistics are collected and of varying definitions of “violent crime,” there will naturally be some discrepancies between countries. Enough to account for a 5:1 difference between Britain and the United States, though? I rather think not.

What about what Piers doesn’t want you to know about why he’s here and not working in England?
What was his involvement in that hacking scandal?

Discussing this exact same issue elsewhere (the runaway rate of violent crime in Europe) I discovered the Brits don't want us to count street hooliganism as violent crime ~ even if they do curb stomp victims and leave people paralyzed or maimed for life.

Strange discovering the Brits want to protect some crimes!

I can’t understand why we would have to outsource a socialist/communist propagandist. Don’t we have a qualified communist sympathizing propagandist from our own country willing to work for his wage? Or is he just doing the jobs Americans won’t do?

Can it be that they are embarrassed that they’ve allowed their “Asian” problem to get the better of them?

I recall reading that the rates of strong-arm robberies and home invasion style robberies, where the owners are home, are far higher in England than the US. This, of course is never reported. The question is "why?" While the convicted criminals in England haven't been interviewed, there have been a number of publicized interviews with convicted criminals stating that they're a lot more scared of an armed "victim" than they are of the police.

Something that's pretty much axiomatic, both in nature and in human criminal activity, is that "predators," whether of the two or four legged variety, always seek out the weakest "prey," and tend to avoid prey that is able to defend itself whenever possible.

One dirty little secret about UK culture Piers Morgan would be ashamed of, if he has any capability of shame, the cute pastime of happy slapping This particular incident had a "happy" ending, but it seems to be a n epidemic all over the UK. But hey, no guns used, so it's all good/s

When Britain confiscated all handguns, in a kristallnacht-like action, violent crime went through the roof immediately.

The worst violence came out of foreign influx from locations like Jamaica, a crime nest heavily influenced by the CIA (William Casey, to be exact).

The globalists have waged violent war on us for at least ageneration.

Your summary is right on target: “Something that’s pretty much axiomatic, both in nature and in human criminal activity, is that “predators,” whether of the two or four legged variety, always seek out the weakest “prey,” and tend to avoid prey that is able to defend itself whenever possible.”

“National Review posted this yesterday and this is perhaps why Piers Morgan gets all interrupty when someone tries to explain how bad violent crime is in Great Britain: According to the Mail, Britons suffer 1,158,957 violent crimes per year, which works out at 2,034 per 100,000 residents. Hopefully John Lott can address a few comments/questions I have re this data.

The data seems to back up John’s premise of “More guns = Less Crime.”, since we have more guns in the hands of citizens in America versus the above countries.

Now for my questions/comments:

1. Is our crime rate going down with the massive increase in citizen gun ownership since Obama as elected in 2008?

2. Have the other countries like England increased the bans on private gun ownership, which has driven up the crime rate in those countries.

3. Are more crimes against Americans per 1000 happening in Blue Cities in Blue States with the most severe gun rules/regulations?

4. Is the US crime rate down in Red States/ and or Red Cities with increased gun ownership and C&C laws?

Lefies in the press and in government are just hiding behind the schoolkids issue.

They aren’t afraid that sane, patriotic people will use their guns to shoot schoolkids.

They are afraid that ane but fed up patriots will shoot them to protect the nation and the constitution.

Minus the cities, I suspect the global crime rate would fall to virtually nothing.

The trick hoplophobes always use is to compare the number of people murdered by guns in the US versus someplace else.

They never want to compare the overall murder rate.

There is a reason for that.

Reminds me of the great scottish actor Tommy Flanagan who was given a "Chelsea grin" or "Glasgow grin"during a knife attack outside a club were he worked as a DJ.

One must always be cognizant of the fact that Piers Morgan is a SUBJECT of the Crown. We, however, are CITIZENS of the United States.

It makes no sense to compare America to countries without a right to bear arms.

A couple of years ago, a Brit cab driver went berzerko and killed about 12 people with a shotgun. So their gun laws don’t prevent mass shootings either.
