Not yet, but our per-person healthcare costs are the highest in the nation. OTOH, our healthcare is first class, at least for now. It breaks my heart, because I'm 50 years old, and have seen the steady improvement in healthcare over my lifetime, including new, cutting-edge treatments that have benefitted me personally.
I've also seen the rise of the emergency room as the front-line of treatment for non-payers, thanks to Ted Kennedy.
Went to the ER with a fractured collarbone. As I have insurance, I get shunted to a cubicle where I am filling out page after page of crap. As I sit there a Hispanic man who has put a nail through his foot comes in. He speaks no English, has no social security number and no insurance. He goes right in to see the doctor while I sit there in pain getting asked more questions and filling out more paperwork.
Oh, I forgot to say my health insurance premiums are going up 62 percent on Jan 1 2013.
I don't know about "most Americans", but my premiums have gone through the roof since Soetorocare was passed. They will go up another 15% in January, the smallest increase in 3 years. Am I supposed to thank King Barfy for that?
Most of us probably are, but that won't matter, either.
They will cut Social Security and Medicare but leave Medicaid and food stamps. Can’t upset zero’s biggest voter block.
Nanny State PING!
PING!
Jeepers... thanks for the ping!
