AK-47 found in paroled felon's car after high speed chase

Authorities found a loaded AK-47 rifle in the trunk of a car driven by a paroled felon after a high speed pursuit that concluded with a crash and short foot chase.

West Covina police attempted to stop a gray Toyota Camry for traffic violations at the Sunset Avenue exit off the 10 Freeway shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday. The driver led police on a chase that reached speeds in excess of 90 mph on city streets, West Covina police spokesman Rudy Lopez said.

The suspect vehicle entered the westbound 10 Freeway at speeds up to 100 mph before exiting at Temple City Boulevard in Rosemead. The driver tried to negotiate the tur, but hit the retaining wall just east of the offramp, Lopez said.

He swerved into the westbound lanes of the freeway and directly into the path of a pursuing police cruiser, which crashed into him.

The suspect climbed out of the front passenger window and fled on foot. He was arrested after a short chase and taken to County USC Medical Center. No officers were injured.

Robert Anthony Facciponti, 36, of West Covina was booked for felony evading, being a parolee in possession of ammunition, possession of a loaded firearm and an outstanding felony warrant, Lopez said.

California's strict gun laws and "assault weapons" ban sure do work ... the laws penalize the law abiding citizens who find it more and more difficult to protect their families, homes, businesses and private property while convicted felons on parole just choose to ignore the same laws.

There is a mistake in the story. There are no AK 47’s in CA.

was booked for felony evading, being a parolee in possession of ammunition, possession of a loaded firearm and an outstanding felony warrant,

I don't see where he was booked for posession of an illegal so-called assault weapon.

But don’t you know, this weapon came into his hands after being stolen from a honest law abiding gun owner. So the only thing to do is eliminate all guns, that way they can never be stolen and sold to criminals! At least that is the the leftist idiots I know think.

Does anyone know whether the perp was one of the criminals who have been recently released because the courts thought that California jails are too crowded (kinda like my old army barracks)?

I gently submit that CA’s gun laws are not the most strict in the nation. It is my understanding that it is easy to get a concealed carry permit- you just staple a copy of your $5,000 contribution to the sheriff’s reelection campaign to your application.

That was a few years ago, so it is probably up to $10,000 now.

Thai
t is because the Supreme Court, a long time ago ruled that Gun Laws DO NOT APPLY TO FELONS, they are already prohibited from owning firearms. Making the Law UN-Constitutional to apply to prohibited persons.

That felon’s not listening to Bloomberg. Wouldn’t be surprised if the AK 47 is a “Fast & Furious” souvenir....but we’ll never know.

Why do I rarely see stories about gun crimes committed by legal gun owners? Probably even more rare are crimes committed by NRA members.

Just a reminder: Eric Holder gives these types of weapons to the Mexican Drug Cartels, free. And the State Department gives out thousands of these to insurgents in Libya, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Congo, Somalia, and Kenya. Maybe the Federal Government should arrest itself

If you find yourself in the middle east the AK47 is the one to have but in the US I would rather have the H&K G36.

in case no one heard of it there’s a fire arms website that lists what was used in tv shows, films, and video games.

In case you ever see a gun used in a scene but it’s too quick to get a close look.

I’ll bet anyone here it was a SKS-47 or 74 and NOT an AK-47 ... these “journalists” will not stop painting all semi-auto arms as full auto...

Gun prosecutions under Obama down more than 45 percent

probably was an illegal alien or Holder's people, so they get a 'get-out-of-jail-free' card.
