Santa Claus came to town - and he was packing heat - as numerous Americans were seen on social networks posing in front of their Christmas trees with the same assault rifle used by the gunmen in three recent bloody killings.
Grinning from ear-to-ear, those who received AR-15 assault rifles took to sites like Twitter and Instagram, posting photos of themselves with their brand new toys.
One Twitter user posted: 'I got just what I wanted. An Armalite semi-automatic AR-15 rifle. It's like the Christmas Story, but I'll shoot more than my eye out.'
The post was in reference to the cult classic holiday film, which follows the life of a young boy who wants nothing but a BB gun for Christmas.
'Furs & guns, yes, it was a redneck Christmas,' said one jubilant Instagram user.

I think it's best they all be invited to EMIGRATE back home ~ and GIT OUT THE WAY
Here in PA, it is legal for a firearm to be given to an immediate family member (who is not otherwise prohibited). So the buyer could fill out the paperwork and give it to his wife.
I look foward to the day we get the federal government out of the business of dictating personal behavior and customs.
I think it’s a good idea to get an anti-gun retard liberal to the gun range and teach them how to shoot.
In most cases, you will have produced someone who loves guns and target shooting.
I recall Gordon Liddy stating that it was illegal for him to own a firearm, so he was happy that Mrs. Liddy had such an extensive collection...
My oldest (9) got a high powered BB rifle and his younger brother got a wrist rocket ... Mommy was not overly pleased but she’ll get over it.
Well, I beat Santa this year. I refinished a 20 gage I inherited from my dad and gave it to our daughter on her birthday late in Nov.
red neck heh, heh, heh
Someone must have gotten a nice gift for Christmas down the road from me. They opened up about 9:00 this morning and fired about 7-8 shots.
It was definitely not a .22 rimfire. Scared my poor dogs something terrible.
Hopefully, they also bought a large amount of pmags and ammo or those AR’s will be expensive paperweights.
OK (sigh) Don't say "clip" though, when you mean "magazine". Start talking like you know something about firearms...
