MERIDEN, Connecticut (Reuters) - A $100 million claim on behalf of a 6-year-old survivor is the first legal action to come out of the Connecticut school shooting that left 26 children and adults dead two weeks ago.

The unidentified client, referred to as Jill Doe, heard "cursing, screaming, and shooting" over the school intercom when the gunman, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, opened fire, according to the claim filed by New Haven-based attorney Irv Pinsky.

"As a consequence, the ... child has sustained emotional and psychological trauma and injury, the nature and extent of which are yet to be determined," the claim said.

Pinsky said he filed a claim on Thursday with state Claims Commissioner J. Paul Vance Jr., whose office must give permission before a lawsuit can be filed against the state.

"We all know its going to happen again," Pinsky said on Friday. "Society has to take action."

Why don’t they sue the Lanza family?

How? He was a legal aged adult. Mama's dead. The state had already told mama he wasn't a minor anymore and she'd have to jump through hoops to get him treatment. The dad? No, he didn't have anymore rights or control over the guy than mama did. The brother? Uh, no. Perhaps if mama left a last will and testament leaving X amount to wacko son then that could be gotten but it'd hardly be enough to go around and that would depend on CT laws against sonny boy from profitting off his mother's murder. Bottom line, it's doubtful the Lanza's can be sued.

I’m surprised Gloria Allred hasn’t had a press conference yet.

Hear me out — these blood sucking lawyers and the rotten parents need to win this. If they win this, the public will most likely hate it and schools will be forced to arm themselves to prevent this again. Who knows, may be students will be packin’ too!

Even a “normal” guy can get crazy when he smells a chance to get a slice of 100 million.

Right call. If ever a law suit needed filing, this is it in spades. No armed guards. No protected entry. No nuttin’, but tragically a bunch of unarmed victims in skirts. Pitiful.

His mother’s guns were involved. And his mother had homeowners insurance, possibly an umbrella. And whether the deceased Adam Lanza can inherit money, if he is a beneficiary on a life ins or 401k, etc.

It all don’t add up to much, but I bet Mrs. Lanza’s estate is drained to nothing. The house and all.

Interesting if they win....essentially making it negligence for a school to not have security....while LaPierre gets ridiculed.

Did the kid call it cursing or did his parents/his lawyer? You can't name anything correctly unless you know what it is.

How about they change that last name from 'Doe' to 'Dough'

Good one! So appropriate in this instance.

How does a lawsuit stop terrorist attacks?

Can't see how. No one can stop what is random. Only armed admin/teachers could have stopped it in this situation. IMO, with random acts on random people it should be a class action suit, if anything, in this hungry world. This will cause the kid more damage as it will be relived and relived over and over again instead of explaining how bad things happen until he gets older and can understand that bad came to his school that day. Then he can get on with his life - now he will be stuck in that moment, until mommy and daddy gets their blood money. They want to keep their son a victim for their own agenda.

The 'mental' are everywhere, they follow you, ask dumb questions for attention. But the word gets around on who to avoid.

I think a good lawyer can convince a jury that if they are suing the schools, etc - the schools won't have the money to install what is needed - and it seems they are denying all the students the right to be protected from such acts in the future. 'SELFISH, it's all about me!' I 'think' they will 'get it' as well as the community.

When Connecticut needs an enema, Meriden is where they stick the tube.

That's sad to hear. I spend a bit of time there in the late 70's and, indeed, it WAS as you described.

Exactly. The gov’t schools are not quick learners - they had the same situation in CO and VA and did nothing - and after this in CT - they are talking about more gun control! They are doing the exact opposite of what should have been already done.

This is what happens ‘when the know it alls’ ignore the Law of The Land. Same with the illegals. Same with obamacare. The results of that is still to be seen - other than what we know already. Many businesses are going to part time or closing. More unemployment. More robberies? Now back to the guns. In a circle of destruction.

Shut them down until the idiot school scumbag admins can either provide security or pay for homeschooling for all! BTW, there appears to be a lot of thinking that the Sandy Hook Shooting is a HOAX...lots of discrepancies...maybe a lawsuit will clear the black ops part up???

Back on day-one, I mentioned this. Bushmaster has been the only gun-manufacturer, to my knowledge, that ever , caved by paying out for a wrongful death suit, [in the DC sniper case.]

FWIW, the Bushmaster factory, that made the weapon, is closing.

Can anyone say, Freedom Group, Cerberus Capital, George Soros....three times, fast?

I’ll take a guess here, IRV is a Democrat who voted for Obama and sent him money.
