An Oregon woman who found a Chinese laborer's plea for help hidden in a box of Halloween decorations says she thinks the letter, which describes brutal conditions inside a work camp, is authentic.
Julie Keith, 42, of Portland, bought a Halloween graveyard kit from Kmart last year and tucked it away in a storage box. When she opened the kit this October, she found the letter tucked in between two Stryofoam headstones.

“I smell BS on this note. Why would the Chinese take Saturday and Sunday off? That is a western custom.”
China has adopted a 5 day work week.
Even in the busiest factory, the work week is 5 1/2 days.
I believe it's authentic. Those who don't are dramatically under estimating Western Culture's influence in China, Japan, Thailand, etc.. Many grow up learning English as a second language due to our media, movies, etc..
I also think once that letter goes public there's a whole factory in for a world of punishment from the Chinese Government. Most here in the U.S. don't realize that the Chinese Government believes the Chinese people are property of the State. Sadly, many Chinese have resigned themselves to that.
Very interesting. I’ve thought this a time or two about cheap Chinese products ... I’d lay odds the letter is genuine; if not, it’s faked by a Chinese literate person.
One word for you: FOXCONN.
“If I sign a contract with a company, be it domestic or foreign, to make and deliver to me X number of widgets then as long as that company delivers the product on time and to specs then it is none of my business how that company gets the job done.”
I hope this is just bluster and hyperbole, because if you really believe in what you wrote....then I would really question your humanity.
“FOXCONN”
I’m sorry but that is not a word as far as I know and I have never heard of it. Please enlighten me.
“I hope this is just bluster and hyperbole, because if you really believe in what you wrote....then I would really question your humanity.”
Humanity has nothing to do with this situation, unless, of course, you mean that I am supposed to stick my nose into someone else’s business and try to tell them how to run their business.....particularly in a foreign country to whom we happen to owe $16 trillion.
I’m a capitalist. That is the way capitalism works. One contracts out to some other company then the original contractor cannot and should not try to tell that company how to run its business.
Google is your friend. You're a capitalist, I'm sure you know what Google is and if you really don't know FOXCONN then you'd do well to enlighten yourself. I'm sure based on your posts I don't have to do that for you.
Most interesting.
Most interesting.
Most interesting.
Having lived in the Orient for a number of years, working with the locals there, to me the writing does not match what I remember seeing when English is written by someone who usually writes in Chinese or Korean. The letters are too rounded, and the format too casual. I think the letter is a fake written by someone who is honestly trying to draw the attention to something they believe is unjust, but I think it is written by someone raised in the West with knowledge of at least some Chinese.
“It is none of the business of the USA how a foreign company treats its employees.”
“If I sign a contract with a company, be it domestic or foreign, to make and deliver to me X number of widgets then as long as that company delivers the product on time and to specs then it is none of my business how that company gets the job done.”
Really?? I bet you don’t think China is a vicious Communist Country either. Maybe, you don’t even know what Communism is about.
Well, hang tight...you are going to experience it close up and personal in the next few years. When you fail to confront evil, it ends up on your front porch and staring you in the face.
The American people are fools for letting our politicians kiss up to the Communist Chinese and all of the other dirt bag third world dicatators.
By the way, I really care who makes those widgets...any moral human being should care. Some day this may be an American writing that letter and there will be NO ONE who can do a thing about it.
Communism is really ugly and evil. Enjoy your cheap widgets.
This is our future under the CommieDems. It’s what Soros, Obama, et al crave, gulags and starvation with wild opulence and decadence for the Masters, insulated by the military.
That’s why the push for guns is so critical to them.

Bingo....you hit the nail on head.
Socialism is in reality all about creating a “ruling class.” Socialist societies have little social mobility and afford those on top of the food chain the assurance that they will remain there (Honiker, Chavez, Castro...). The true forces behind socialism for those that are in positions of power are greed and lust of more power and to remain in it. Industry and business at least in the beginning often largely support the move towards socialism since like those hoping for a free lunch you have a government that promises much. You often get a collusion between government and business where key players make out well at the expense to all others, albeit this fraud is usually not perceived as what it really is, fraud and corruption.
The amazing thing about America is that she is asking for this. America didn't fall into a socialist system through some sort of “Red Dawn” like event, but rather her people are fat, ignorant, divided, lazy and apathetic. They aren't even expensive: a cell phone, extension of unemployment checks, free abortions via health care and you have people stumbling over themselves supporting you. Americans “today” are willing to trade their freedom, their Constitution and Republic which is based on this document, for a small piece of government cheese or the sense of security.
Without a true moral compass, in this post American society where people are hyphenated Americans and even the most basic of values have been extinguished, what is left?
Americans don't care about forced abortions where a salt brine is injected into a pregnant woman once discovered that she is violating the one child policy.
They don't care about tanks driving over folks on Tienanmen square, and give China “most favored trade status” anyway.
Americans today are no longer guided by ANY principals and this is evident in their trade, foreign affairs, and security policies, as it is in their national/domestic policies and laws. We'll throw allies of 30+ years under the bus and hedge our bets with the Muslim brotherhood in Egypt when they seem to pick up inertia. Today's America will stand on the sidelines and watch a Rwanda (1994) unfold and do nothing. We are not the same people we were when the Greatest Generation ran the country. Mass immigration and a change in demographics, poor public education, apathy, sloth, lots of hyphenated Americans, the decay of the family, secularization... What do we represent today, what is it that Americans really want? Comfort, convenience, economic security, permissiveness regards sexual, relational, gender and reproductive so called “rights,” no accountability, entertainment, consumerism and easy money.
Americans care if their McDonald's toy made in China has something toxic in it, but they don't care if children working in unsafe conditions were used in making that toy. They will care if their dog gets contaminated food that can cause illness, they don't care if people are starving, or eating food worse than their dog food where it was made. Today's Americans don't even see the irony when they buy a cross made in China where Christianity is oppressed! The cross had a good price, that's what they see.
I have a friend working in Red China; she says they now have contracts prohibiting new employees from committing suicide because it has become so common. Our standard of living is falling to meet that of Red China; this doesn’t bode well...
Remember early in 2008 and 9 ubangos unelected csars were running thier mouth about how wonderful China is and why we should be modeling ourselves to them? Now wouldnt they just love labor camps here in the US.
