Connecticut embraces gun "buy-back" farce
NECN (no link) | 12/29/12

Posted on 12/29/2012 6:46:11 AM PST by pabianice

Per New England Cable Network:

CT is joining the fight on gun violence with a gun "buy-back" program. Local police stations will offer $200 for a working handgun and $75 for a working rifle.

CT already has the 5th most strict gun-grabbing laws in the country. IMHO, the state's moronic embrace of the "gun buy-back" farce is just the latest example of their utter cluelessness about guns and their hatred of the most basic of civil rights, self-defense.

So publish in the paper where the guns are so crooks can steal them and then fence them to the police. Is this a great country or what?

Great. They’ve thrown in “working” now. I guess they were paying taxpayer dollars for broken guns. LOL!

Real Americans need to set up outside these buy-back stations. We can offer a whole lot more than $200 for most handguns, and $75 for most rifles. We can also tell the owners which weapons are not worth the money and should be sold to the gun grabbers at an inflated price. Sadly, prices have risen, and the cheapest handgun I could find at BudsGunShop was $195. If Buds still had them at $125 or so, I’d buy a thousand and sell them “back” to the grabbers for a huge profit ($75k if they’d take a thousand at their promised price).

How are they going to establish that they are “working” guns? Will we have a tasting program? Will there be established guidelines and repeatable tests? Sounds like a job for some high priced consultants.

Maybe someone (say a gun dealer) should offer 275 and 100 respectively. Just to piss these socialists off!

I wonder if non-working is defined as one they’ll stand in front of, while I pull the trigger?

I guess they were paying taxpayer dollars for broken guns. LOL!

LAPD actually paid $400 of taxpayer money to buy back two spent disposable missile launching tubes, which could only be dangerous if a gangster wanted to bludgeon someone with them!

There are way more “news stories” about these “gun buy-back” programs than stories about gun shows mobbed with citizens needing guns & ammo for their own protection. Wonder why?

Agree. Do they have any idea how much collectors pay for guns?
Anyone who made a decision to buy a gun isn’t gonna give away their only gun. Maybe they could only afford a cheap one first.

You sure can’t buy ‘em at stores for that. What are they going to do with them? Probably Fast and Furious II...lol

LOL! The old police chief probably thinks that he saved a lot of lives by “buying-back” two worthless tubes. He could have saved a lot of money by going down to Lowe’s and bought some metal tubing there. I’ve guess if they are painted olive drab, they look “scary”.

re: “. . . their hatred of the most basic of civil rights, self-defense.”

Agreed. And, not only for self-defense, but I think the 2nd Amendment was intended by the Founding Fathers to give the citizenry the ability to remove a tyrannical government when necessary.

I got a bunch of old parts out in the shop ...I could cobble them together and make some money, and clean up the shop at the same time!

Voluntary gun buy backs are a GREAT idea, and if this the at the center of any so called gun legislation, I would be all for it. Let’s face it, the only people to sell their guns back to the government are stupid people and liberals (I know, that’s a redundancy). And because stupid people and liberals care nothing for the Constiution in general and second amendment in particular, their right to self defense and resistance to tyranny is forfeited.
When the SHTF, triggered by resistance to gun registration/confiscation, I want the low information 0-voters to be unarmed sitting ducks. These folks will be easy prey for various criminal gangs, mauraders, police and other armed government forces.

This whole “buy back” is such bs. Like the goberment sold the guns to the people in the first place.
It’s nothing but theater.
