14,170 more to go.

If gun-free zones are good enough for our children, they should be good enough for our feral government overlords.

Government is an unspeakable evil, a vile and pernicious predator, with an insatiable appetite for money and power.

Has the all-powerful whitehut responded to even one of these petitions yet? You know—the one that keeps pushing transparency?

I’m sure he hasn’t. I see it as flipping him a virtual bird. Meaningless, but somehow satisfying.

Oh, definitely safer for the president in a “gun-free zone.”

You never know when one of those Secret Service guys might drop one of his fully automatic, 50 cal, assault handgun rifles with the bayonet, flash suppressor, and 250-magazine, and it shoots the president all by itself!

I standby the motto, “If it’s good enough for our kids, it’s good enough for the president.”

I also think obama should demand that all armed security at the Sidwell Friends school be immediately dismissed. He should be ashamed of himself if he doesn’t do this for the safety of his kids! Nothing safer for his kids than a gun free zone.

Responded as an Official? No.

As a narcissist whose feelings have been hurt? I believe he has.

Government is an unspeakable evil, a vile and pernicious predator...

Really? You'd prefer anarchy? Given your statement, how do you respond to Paul's assertion in Romans 13?

"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4 For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.

6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor."

Do you state this for Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, Chavez, the N korea Kims? Anyone who killed them would save millions of lives. Those who admire these thugs are called Democrats.

No, you didn't specifically mention "anarchy;" rather, you condemned all government, which amounts to the same thing:
"Government is an unspeakable evil, a vile and pernicious predator..."

Anarchy:
1. general lawlessness and disorder, esp when thought to result from an absence or failure of government
2. the absence or lack of government
(World English Dictionary)

I notice you have a certain respect for Scripture, in that you quote it on your home page. But when I cited a scriptural passage and asked you to square your pronouncement with its assertion, you ducked it.

So, I'm left with the task of resolving it for the three of us.

I start with the scripturally-based idea that God instituted laws and governors to administer those laws for our benefit, as Paul asserted; thus, God rejects anarchy. That statement challenges your unqualified assertion that "government is...evil." In any argument between God and you, I'll tend to lean in His direction.

Had you said "some governments," I would agree. But to implicate all governments, as you did, demands challenge. While absolute power corrupts absolutely, our government does not (yet) possess it. And as long as our Constitution remains, it operates to do the very job for which it was created--to limit government's power.

But again, wise people rely on Scripture to interpret itself, where it does, and take the whole counsel of Scripture, and do not merely cherry-pick those parts that seem to agree with their preconceptions. Thus, although it clearly insists that governments are God-ordained, we also have clear examples throughout the Bible of people of faith resisting evil governments and being commended for it (e.g., cf Hebrews 11). Where government contradicts God's laws, God expects us to defy the government--that's explicitly clear in Scripture, too (e.g., Acts 4: "18 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. 20 For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”)

So, God established government, first through Himself and then also among and by men. When men violate God's laws, we may in good conscience resist the human government in favor of our faith in God's government; but where they are not in conflict, we are bound to submit (the good folks who own Hobby Lobby are facing this tension now). There will come a time when the King of Kings and Lord of Lords is Himself the governor of all who choose to submit to His Kingship and Lordship, but that time has not yet come.

Save your lecture, you're putting words in my mouth that I did not say or imply.

You hypocrite, take the log out of your own eye.
