Gov. Martin O'Malley signed an executive order Friday to increase Maryland's long-term resiliency to storm-related flooding and sea level rise.

**SNIP**

"As storms such as Hurricane Sandy have shown, it is vital that we commit our resources and expertise to create a ready and resilient Maryland by taking the necessary steps to adapt to the rising sea and unpredictable weather," O'Malley said. "In studying and planning for storms and climate change, we can ensure that our land, infrastructure, and most importantly our citizens are safe and prepared."

“storms such as Hurricane Sandy have shown, it is vital that we commit our resources”
********
Resources = more bureaucrats, more spending, more regulations, more controls. Never let a “crisis” go to waste.

Maryland is sinking — in a sea of debt.

Let me know if this dipsh*t figures a way to stop the tide.

Why do I see higher taxes paying for this in the future?

Perhaps because O’Malley is famous for higher taxes.

LOL!!! No problem - heck I don’t even live in Maryland!! But do live close enough that I do have to pay attention - I do most of my shopping in Maryland, because there is not that much available in this part of Virginia and Salisbury is closer than Virginia Beach/Norfolk!

Interesting. If they built a few desalinization plants in Africa, ran the pipes across the desert with the glacier concept in mind, used dripper technology to grow crops in sand, we could turn the sahara into an eternal global economy for fruits and vegetables.

No more starvation. No more disease. No more poverty.

This guy is looking at art? I just gave a practical solution that can be in place within 3 years.

... gangs, thugs, warlords, would seize control/destroy/hold hostage the plants and apparatus.

then somehow more of my tax dollars will be needed

America is sinking - some parts faster than others. Maybe Øbongo could drill a few more holes in the bottom of the boat to let the water out...

Maryland IS sinking, especially Dorchester county, where former freshwater wetlands are now slat -water wetlands.

Isostatic rebound is one of the reasons MD has a bay and not a delta. The other reason much of the Eastern Shore is sinking is ground water withdrawal. Somehow I doubt that Omally even knows what isostatic rebound is and what the rate is (also it is a declining rate).

Probably too many people on the left side. Just ask Hank Johnson (D-GA).

Sandy was an example of neither of these.
