Updated: A Massachusetts lawmaker who agreed to plead guilty to casting invalid absentee ballots in 2009 and 2010 has submitted his resignation letter.
State Rep. Stephen Smith submitted a letter dated Monday to the state's top election official, Secretary William Galvin.
Galvin said Tuesday Smith's signed letter states, "I respectfully decline to accept this office."
“Stat” Smith—Howie Carr ping
From Howie’s column 12/30:
>>There will be a bad smell out of Everett this year, and not just because of the casino referendum, which the voters will approve by a 25-1 margin. It will turn out that crooked state Rep. Stat Smith wasnt just marking those absentee ballots for himself. Dont you think the feds would have thrown more than a few misdemeanors at him if he wasnt playing ball?
Is Smith a Republican? The article doesn’t say.
Since no party is being reported, he must be an independent. </sarcasm>
your linky goes to a F Lee Bailey story
It’s in the fifth paragraph. Yep, a Democrat.
No, He’s a big DemocRAT. I doubt he’ll see any jail time. This is after-all, “democrats can do no wrong Massachusetts”.
from massresistance 2008, results of primaries:
>>Twenty-Eighth Middlesex — Everett, Malden ***
55% - Stephen Stat Smith (D) [meq]
45% - Wayne A. Matewsky (D)
Our opinion is: Vote for anyone but Smith. He’s become a shill for the liberals, and doesn’t represent that area well at all.
Wikipedia on him:
On December 20, 2012, federal prosecutors announced that Smith had agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of deprivation of rights under color of law for his role in a voter fraud scheme in which Smith cast absentee ballots for voters who were ineligible or unaware of ballots being cast in their names. It was announced that Smith will resign effective January 1, 2013. As part of his plea agreement, Smith will not be allowed to run for public office for five years
Obviously a Republican until the fifth paragraph, when ya figger out that Rep. means Representative, cause he's a DemoRat.
Keep this in mind: Any time no party is listed you can bet your first born that the culprit in question is a Jackass. In this case the Dimocrat designation is given deep in the story to hide it since many readers don’t get that far.
The low info morons that just read the first line will think he’s a Repub.
Mission accomplished.
Usually they never mention the Rat party affiliation anywhere in the entire article.
With all the Obama addresses all over the Country, we could probably get him on the same thing, if it were to do the investigation work. Sometimes we try hard to bring our enemies down on really major issues, failing to do so, and don’t bother with the easier, littler issues right in front of our noses, the ones that would actually get the job done.
