I don't know. Does it even matter? At this point, it's anybody guess whether America will still remain intact four years from now.

Just remember in 1988, nobody could even predict the impending collapse of Soviet Union.

“Willoughby”

That’s my favorite Twilight Zone episode.
Second best is the one with the old hillbilly guy who dies with his dog.

>> WE tried. The RNC failed us...

Is the RNC so incredibly powerful that we’re unable to determine what happens in our districts? Have we truly mobilized at the local level? I’m doubtful.

I just cannot accept the notion that we’re victims to the GOP-e in DC. There a plenty of folks out there willing to run and shake things up. We, as the concerned Conservatives, must work within our districts to make it happen. Not sure why this is foreign (or impossible) concept to so many.

2014 - the year of the RINO ousters.

We have a new RINOcrat to add to the list.
Senator David Vitter, Socialist from Louisiana.

The Republicans voted tax cuts for THE MIDDLE CLASS only—thus finally endorsing CLASS WARFARE!!!

Leftists from Marx in his tomb to giggling homosexuals like Obama are butt slapping and scrotum tickling each other the world over for this delightful REJECTION OF CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES BY THE GOP!!!

If Boehner is still speaker tomorrow there will be blood!

(figuratively speaking of course)

...But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

on top of the wall she cries out,
at the city gate she makes her speech:...

Amen. Rove has done much damage to this Republic; 2012 included. He orchestrated character assassinations on more conservative candidates and ultimately, Mitt Romney's nomination. Nothing will change with the GOP as long as Rove has his chubby little sausage fingers in it.

To answer the initial question, the reason that Boehner can still hang on after 2/3rds of his caucus supposedly “defied” the GOP leadership is because they did not. This is classic Washington back room politics. The leaders of the parties get together to make the fix and decided how many votes they need to pass. A few Dems in conservative districts are given permission to vote no. Enough Republicans in “safe” or more liberal districts are lined up to vote yes. The other GOP members are given permission to vote no, on the understanding that the bill will pass. The vast majority of those who voted no actually support Boehner and this lunatic tax and spend bill, including Darrell Issa (who yesterday voiced support for the bill, even though he voted no). There are only a handful of principled NO votes by members who actually want to get rid of Boehner and the rest of the GOP leadership. The rest of the clowns were just happy to play the game while buying themselves a piece of loincloth for the price of their integrity. What a disgusting collection of cowards.

-— What a disgusting collection of cowards -—

Expect another display of cowardice at the debt ceiling “fight.”

Everyone in DC is in looting mode. It’s now officially over.

Batten down the hatches. A 20 year depression awaits.

You analyzed and delineated the technique perfectly.

Vote-trading and other clever little games played behind the scenes is as old as the hills and undoubtedly predates the Roman Forum.
