Many of you may remember Richmond talk show host, Doc Thompson. He currently has a radio show in Michigan. Much like me, he gets some "inside" information from time-to-time.
He has received a communication between a friend and someone in the Republican Party leadership. That communication is troubling as it says the congressional Republicans are seriously considering selling out gun owners to "seem reasonable."
They are considering a magazine ban, changes to background checks, and more.
Here is a link to the email with redactions to protect the sources:

URGENT ACTION ITEM
We need to contact ALL of our members of Congress and let them know that NO MORE GUN CONTROL OF ANY SORT WILL BE ACCEPTABLE and that we WILL be watching how they vote on our rights !
This is URGENT and we need every one of you to do your part NOW. Feinstein is trying to rush through her gun control bill and time is CRITICAL. To be as effective as possible, let's both call and send them webmail.
As always, be polite, but firm.
Forward this email to friends, family, and put it on other gun lists that have Virginia members!
If you don't know who your Congressman is, click here and enter your 9-digit zip code in the upper righthand corner (such as 22122-2107). If you only know your 5-digit zip code, enter that and you will be prompted to enter your home address, later:

Suggested subject: Second Amendment (or if no such choice, "other")
Suggested message:
As a constituent I expect you to protect my right to keep and bear arms. Reject ALL gun control, including, but not limited to:
* Gun bans of any sort * Bans on magazines or other gun accessories * Taxes on ammunition * Background checks on private sales of firearms * Restrictions on purchase, transfer, carry, discharge, or storage of firearms * Restrictions, burdens, or additional requirements on firearms dealers, gun shows, hunt clubs or firing ranges * Creation of any more "gun-free zones" (we need to eliminate all such existing zones)
I will be watching your votes on gun control carefully and you will lose my support if you support any more gun control.
If you care about your gun rights, NOW is the time to act!
Unbelievable.
Why don’t they just show us their Marxist cards¿¿¿
Nows the time to start fielding their replacements.
I don’t expect a new AWB can pass, but I do see a slim chance for a hi-cap mag ban, maybe even some other tinkering. I’ve written my congress-critters.
Our worthless rat bastard GOP congress at it again.
Lovely weather, isn't it?
If Republicans don’t like being Americans they should just say so.
The sheeple will watch and vote for them anyway. Oh sure, they'll hem and haw and raise a big fuss about it. But then the helpful Henrys will be along to tell them Candidate X isn't as bad as the alternative. We've had countless rights stolen and stripped from us in this manner (like the lock stock voting allowing spying on U.S. citizens without a warrant)
Anyone that thinks otherwise is merely fooling themselves. For the most recent example, I present the NRA backed 2012 Stupid Party (R) POTUS nomination
In 1994 Romney had supported firearms-control measures opposed by the National Rifle Association: the so-called Brady Bill, which restricted the sale of handguns, and the assault weapons ban. During the 1994 senatorial campaign he had taunted: "That's not going to make me the hero of the NRA." He reinforced his support for these measures when he ran for governor in 2002, when he promised not to chip away at the Commonwealth's tough gun laws. Now as a presidential candidate, Romney presented himself disingenuously as a lifetime member of the NRA and a hunter of "varmints," which prompted the acerbic Boston Globe columnist Joan Vennochi to write: "Leave it to Mitt Romney to shoot himself in the foot with a gun he doesn't own."
--
Q: Are you still for the Brady Bill?
A: The Brady Bill has changed over time, and, of course, technology has changed over time. I would have supported the original assault weapon ban. I signed an assault weapon ban as Massachusetts governor because it provided for a relaxation of licensing requirements for gun owners in Massachusetts, which was a big plus. And so both the pro-gun and the anti-gun lobby came together with a bill, and I signed that. And if there is determined to be, from time to time, a weapon of such lethality that it poses a grave risk to our law enforcement personnel, thats something I would consider signing. Theres nothing of that nature thats being proposed today in Washington. But I would look at weapons that pose extraordinary lethality.
If you care about your gun rights, NOW is the time to act!
You can ACT by stockpiling weapons and ammo and being prepared to prevent their confiscation.
Urgent ? That’s a hoot!
The spineless , backstabbing GOP are going to help the communists grab guns?
I’m shocked I tell you, shocked!!! /s
They seem to have jelly spines about everything.
I don’t think all the Dims are going to go along with a new AWB, but we will see.
To name a few Dems Sinators who may balk: Pryor Ark, Begich AK, Nelson FL, Baucus MT, Tester MT, Conrad ND, Hagan NC, Johnson SD, Landrieu LA.
The only side that counts.
Their own.
I’ve already written by my Senators and my Representative. I’m quite confident they will vote no on any kind of new gun restrictions. It’s the GOP from liberal States that have me worried. I’m fairly convinced we’re gonna get bent, just don’t know how hard yet.
This is going to take a lot more than letters and phone calls. We need to go Chicago on them, both parties.
We need to go all Last of the Mohicans on them, both parties.
Make sure you educate your congress critter that there is no such thing as a high capacity magazine. 25-30 rounds for AR’s is standard capacity. Anything less is reduced capacity.
If you email you should be polite but direct and to the point and state clearly that if they come after your guns i.e. infringing more on your freedoms then you will go after them with your guns which is why we have a 2nd amendment.
