Guarding school children from harm—what I’m sure the `Party of the People’ considers to be the brats of the great unwashed masses—while their own precious issue have real futures with made-up jobs as television freaks, duh!—is the goal.
“Putting more guns in schools” (and that’s nice way to put it, hmm?) is just one of many possible solutions.
But it appears to makes the most sense over many proposals, particularly in that Obama and other Democrats haven’t objected to their own children’s safety secured due to putting guns in schools.
Of course, because it appears to the average guy be a reasonable proposal it stands in the way of their gun confiscation agenda: `There’s a crisis here and time’s a wastin’!
Gee, he’s “skeptical”. Why can’t we just ban guns, criminalize and thereby prevent 300 million Americans from legally owning firearms—in derogation of the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution?
And if we don’t agree with them, then you know the drill: We masses/proles must be too damned stupid to understand that it’s for our own good, or, “You know what? Maybe I didn’t explain everything adequately or misspoke myself or ... “ blah blah blah blah blah blah

There is no generally accepted objective definition of "assault weapons" - it is a made up term. (as opposed to "assault rifles" which are specifically defined and are already illegal to own for the majority of Americans.) Thus, Obama just wants to ban as many guns as possible by arbitrarily labeling them as "assault weapons".
